NIELIT Agartala Highlights 2026-27
NIELIT got deemed university status (Distinct Category) on July 15, 2024, through Gazette Notification No. 9-3/2023-U.3(A). It is the only university under MeitY. Ropar in Punjab is the main campus. Agartala is one of 11 constituent campuses.

The 2026-27 admission notice (revised April 17, 2026) lists these. BCA runs for four years.

Who Can Apply
For the B.Tech, you need Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics, plus one more subject from the notice’s list. Your marks in these three subjects, taken together, must reach 50%. Reserved category students need 45%. A D.Voc in the same or an allied sector is also accepted.
The two diplomas are open after Class 10. Science must be a compulsory subject, and you need 50% (45% if you are SC, ST or PwD).
BCA is simpler. Pass Class 12 in any stream from a recognised board and you are eligible.
For the M.Tech, any one of these qualifications works:
- B.E./B.Tech
- a four-year bachelor’s in IT, CS, Physics, Electronics or Maths
- NIELIT B Level
- M.Sc (IT, CS, Physics, Electronics, Maths or Statistics) or MCA
You need 50% in it (45% for SC, ST and PwD).
Reservation follows Government of India norms.

What the Whole Course Costs
We added it up at 2026-27 rates. Take the B.Tech. Eight semesters of tuition come to Rs 4,00,000. Add the admission fee, the security deposit and four academic fees, and a general category student pays Rs 4,30,000 over four years.

Admission Process 2026-27
Registration for the Diploma and BCA opened on March 25, 2026, and closed on May 8. B.Tech and M.Tech registration opened on April 13, 2026. No notice for 2027-28 is out yet.

The steps were:
- Register on the NIELIT University admission portal.
- Pay Rs 1,000 as the registration fee (Rs 500 for SC/ST).
- Upload your photo, signature, Aadhaar number and a single PDF with your certificates.
- Take the NIELIT Entrance Test. B.Tech applicants can use JoSAA instead.
Check your category twice. It cannot be changed once the form is in, and the test fee is not refunded.
