Central University of Karnataka Fees 2027: Key Facts
Nothing for 2027-28 yet. CUK hasn’t put out next year’s notice on Central University of Karnataka fees, so the numbers you’ll find here are from the 2026-27 one, which the Registrar signed on July 31, 2026, under Ordinance No. 23. The university bills you twice a year, once in July (odd semester) and once in January (even semester).

Here’s something that trips up a lot of parents when they first read Central University of Karnataka fees. The notice has an “annual total” column, and it’s easy to assume that’s what every year will cost. It isn’t. That figure bundles both semesters of year one, and the July bill carries all the one-time charges. So the first year is always the priciest of CUK fees for a BTech or BSc.
CUK at a Glance for Engineering and Science Aspirants
A bit of background helps. CUK came up under an Act of Parliament in 2009, and UGC funds it fully. The campus is big, 654 acres, out near Kadaganchi village in Kalaburagi district. Engineering started here in 2013, and the School of Engineering has an MoU with IIT Hyderabad. Science and engineering teaching sits across six schools: Engineering, Computer Sciences, Physical, Chemical, Earth and Life Sciences. Teaching is in English.
Being a central university, it sets Central University of Karnataka fees under its own ordinance, and they’re well below what private engineering colleges charge. One more thing families from outside the state often ask about: the Central University of Karnataka fee structure doesn’t change with domicile. A student from Bihar pays what a student from Bengaluru pays.
Does Central University of Karnataka Offer Medical Courses?
Short answer, no. You won’t find MBBS, BDS, BAMS, nursing or any other medical course at the Central University of Karnataka, and it doesn’t take admissions through NEET UG. The 2026-27 prospectus covers engineering, science, humanities, social science, management, law and education. That said, a PCB student isn’t shut out. A couple of science courses here accept Biology.
We’re flagging this for NEET aspirants who look up Central University of Karnataka fees while drawing up a backup list. With Physics, Chemistry and Biology in Class 12, your choices at CUK are narrow, and it’s better to know them now than in August.
| Programme | Is Biology accepted? | Entry exam | First-year fee (Rs) |
| BSc (Hons/Research) Chemistry | Yes: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology | CUET UG (Chemistry) | 34,720 |
| BSc (Hons/Research) Geology | Yes: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, Biology, Statistics or Geology | CUET UG (domain subjects) | 34,720 |
| BSc (Hons/Research) Physics | No: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics required | CUET UG (PCM) | 34,720 |
| BTech (all branches) | No: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics required | JEE Main / CUET UG | 81,920 |
Later on, a PCB student who finishes a life-science BSc can move into MSc Botany, MSc Zoology or MSc Genetics and Genomics here via CUET PG. We’ve listed Central University of Karnataka fees for those MSc courses further down.
Central University of Karnataka BTech Fees 2026-27
Central University of Karnataka fees for BTech add up to Rs 81,920 in the first year, according to the Central University of Karnataka fee structure notified on July 31, 2026. You’d pay Rs 44,720 in July and Rs 37,200 in January. Tuition by itself is Rs 33,600 a semester. Central University of Karnataka BTech fees don’t change by branch, and the course runs the full eight semesters; there’s no early exit.
| BTech branch | Seats (incl. EWS) | Odd semester (Rs) | Even semester (Rs) | First-year total (Rs) |
| Computer Science and Engineering (AI and ML) | 60 + 6 | 44,720 | 37,200 | 81,920 |
| Electronics and Communication Engineering | 60 + 6 | 44,720 | 37,200 | 81,920 |
| Electrical Engineering | 60 + 6 | 44,720 | 37,200 | 81,920 |
| Mathematics and Computing | 30 + 3 | 44,720 | 37,200 | 81,920 |
A small naming quirk you may notice. The fee notice lists “BTech (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning)”, while the prospectus calls it BTech in Computer Science and Engineering (AI and ML). Don’t worry, it’s the same course.
How Are Central University of Karnataka BTech Fees Split?
| Fee head | Odd semester (Rs) | Even semester (Rs) |
| Caution deposit (refundable) | 1,800 | Nil |
| Admission fee | 2,000 | Nil |
| Alumni fee | 500 | Nil |
| Placement and training fee | 500 | Nil |
| Accidental insurance | 320 | Nil |
| Tuition fee | 33,600 | 33,600 |
| Student welfare fund | 600 | Nil |
| Extra-curricular and sports fee | 600 | Nil |
| Library fee | 600 | Nil |
| Computer lab fee | 600 | Nil |
| Laboratory fee | 2,500 | 2,500 |
| Exam fee | 600 | 600 |
| Health centre charges | 500 | 500 |
| Total | 44,720 | 37,200 |
Tuition is the big one here, about 82% of first-year Central University of Karnataka BTech fees (Rs 67,200 out of Rs 81,920). And of what you pay in July, Rs 1,800 isn’t really spent. It’s a deposit you get back after the course, provided you claim it in time.
What Are CUK BTech Fees From the Second Year?
Once you’re past year one, that Rs 4,800 of one-time charges disappears from the Central University of Karnataka fees bill. Assuming the 2026 batch stays on its 2026-27 rates, CUK BTech fees for each later year come to roughly Rs 77,120. You can already see this in the notice. The 2025 batch pays Rs 73,920 in its second year, the 2024 batch Rs 72,600 in its third, and the 2023 batch Rs 70,100 in its fourth.
Why do seniors pay less? Each batch holds on to the tuition rate it started with, so older batches carry lower Central University of Karnataka fees. The 2023 batch still pays Rs 30,750 a semester in tuition; the 2026 batch pays Rs 33,600.
BTech Eligibility and Seat Split
To apply for BTech, you need 50% in Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, and, for ECE, EE and CSE (AI and ML), a 50% average across PCM too. For OBC (non-creamy layer), SC, ST, PwD and Kashmiri Migrant candidates, the bar drops to 45%.
Seats in every branch are split down the middle. Half go on JEE Main performance, half on CUET UG scores in the Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics papers. Our advice is simple: write both. The intake is small, just 210 regular seats over four branches plus 21 EWS seats, and being in both pools doubles your chances of a call.
One oddity in the prospectus. It mentions JEE 2025 for two branches and JEE 2026 for the other two. If you’re applying in 2027, go by whatever CUK’s admission notice for that year says.
Central University of Karnataka Fee Structure for BSc Science Courses
For BSc Physics, Chemistry and Geology, Central University of Karnataka fees come to Rs 34,720 in the first year of 2026-27. That’s Rs 21,120 in July and Rs 13,600 in January. In the CUK fee structure for BSc, tuition is Rs 10,000 a semester, plus a Rs 2,500 lab fee every semester. Each course takes 30 students, with 3 more seats for EWS.
| BSc course | Class 12 subjects needed | Odd semester (Rs) | Even semester (Rs) | First-year total (Rs) |
| BSc (Hons/Research) Physics | Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics | 21,120 | 13,600 | 34,720 |
| BSc (Hons/Research) Chemistry | Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology | 21,120 | 13,600 | 34,720 |
| BSc (Hons/Research) Geology | Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Statistics or Geology | 21,120 | 13,600 | 34,720 |
You’ll need 50% in Class 12 for any of the three (45% if you’re OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD or Kashmiri Migrant). Merit comes from CUET UG domain scores. For BSc Chemistry, only your Chemistry paper counts.
CUK BSc Fees for Three Years vs Four Years
These BSc programmes run on the NEP 2020 model, which means you can step off at different points: a certificate after year one, a diploma after year two, a bachelor’s degree after year three. Stay for year four and you get an honours degree, or honours with research if you meet the criteria.
In money terms, the gap in Central University of Karnataka fees between the two routes is just one year’s recurring fee. Three years of BSc costs about Rs 94,560 in academic fees, and four years about Rs 1,24,480. The four-year degree has a bonus, though: it qualifies you for CUK’s one-year MSc, which we cover in the next section.
CUK Fee Structure for Senior BSc Batches
| BSc course | 2025 intake, year 2 (Rs) | 2024 intake, year 3 (Rs) | 2023 intake, year 4 (Rs) |
| Physics | 29,920 | 24,600 | 22,600 |
| Chemistry | 27,920 | 24,600 | 22,600 |
| Geology | 27,920 | 24,600 | 22,600 |
Central University of Karnataka MTech, MSc and MCA Fees
Thinking further ahead? For MTech, Central University of Karnataka fees run from Rs 77,720 to Rs 78,720 in the first year, and most science MSc courses cost Rs 35,720 in 2026-27. The CUK fee structure puts MCA at Rs 71,870. MTech takes half its class through GATE and half through CUET PG; MSc and MCA go only through CUET PG.
| Programme | Seats (incl. EWS) | Odd semester (Rs) | Even semester (Rs) | First-year total (Rs) |
| MTech Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning | 30 + 3 | 43,120 | 35,600 | 78,720 |
| MTech Power and Energy Systems | 18 + 2 | 42,620 | 35,100 | 77,720 |
| MTech RF and Microwave Engineering | 18 + 2 | 42,620 | 35,100 | 77,720 |
| Master of Computer Applications (MCA) | 60 + 6 | 39,395 | 32,475 | 71,870 |
| MSc Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Geology | As notified | 21,620 | 14,100 | 35,720 |
| MSc Botany / Zoology | 30 + 3 each | 21,620 | 14,100 | 35,720 |
| MSc Statistics and Data Analytics | As notified | 21,620 | 14,100 | 35,720 |
| MSc Genetics and Genomics | 12 + 1 | 21,120 | 13,600 | 34,720 |
Does the MTech Pay a Stipend?
For two of the three, yes. If you get into MTech Power and Energy Systems or MTech RF and Microwave Engineering with a valid GATE score, there’s a stipend of Rs 12,400 a month (or as per AICTE norms), subject to availability and AICTE approval. Over a year that’s Rs 1,48,800, nearly double the first-year Central University of Karnataka fees of Rs 77,720. Not a bad deal.
If GATE candidates don’t fill their half, the leftover seats go to CUET PG candidates. You’ll need a BTech or BE in the matching branch with 50% (45% for reserved categories).
One-Year MSc After a Four-Year BSc
If you finish a four-year honours or research BSc, CUK lets you do a one-year MSc in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Geology. Central University of Karnataka fees for each are Rs 35,720, the same as the first year of the two-year version. Since the two-year MSc costs about Rs 66,640 in academic fees, the shorter route saves you around Rs 30,920.
Eligibility shifts by subject. MSc Mathematics wants Mathematics as a major in your BSc. MSc Botany needs Botany or Plant Science. For MSc Genetics and Genomics, you’ll need a biology degree that included Genetics, Genomics or both.
Central University of Karnataka Hostel Fees and Mess Charges
Central University of Karnataka hostel fees for 2026-27 start with rent of Rs 700 a month, so Rs 3,500 for a five-month UG or PG semester. On top of that you pay a Rs 100 admission fee, a Rs 350 hostel day fee and a Rs 3,000 security deposit, which you get back. Within CUK hostel fees, mess is charged by the day, roughly Rs 90 for girls and Rs 95 for boys.
| Hostel type | Admission fee (Rs) | Rent per semester (Rs) | Mess per day (Rs) | Hostel day fee (Rs) | Security deposit, refundable (Rs) |
| UG/PG Ladies | 100 | 3,500 (700 x 5 months) | 90 | 350 | 3,000 |
| UG/PG Gents | 100 | 3,500 (700 x 5 months) | 95 | 350 | 3,000 |
| UG/PG Ladies (PH) | 100 | Nil | 90 | 350 | 3,000 |
| UG/PG Gents (PH) | 100 | Nil | 95 | 350 | 3,000 |
The prospectus calls these Central University of Karnataka hostel fees approximate, and they apply to the first semester of the 2026-27 intake.
How Much Are CUK Hostel Fees per Semester?
Leave mess out for a second. CUK hostel fees for a UG or PG student come to Rs 6,950 when moving in: Rs 100 + Rs 3,500 + Rs 350 + Rs 3,000. If you have a physical disability (and, per CUK’s July 2026 hostel notice, for SC/ST students), there’s no rent, so it’s Rs 3,450.
Mess is trickier because it depends on how many days get billed. A 30-day month works out to Rs 2,850 for a boy and Rs 2,700 for a girl. Suppose a semester is billed for 150 days (that’s our assumption, not CUK’s). Mess would then be Rs 14,250 for boys and Rs 13,500 for girls, and Central University of Karnataka hostel fees for the whole first semester would land around Rs 21,200 and Rs 20,450.
Is a Hostel Room Guaranteed?
Not guaranteed, unfortunately. There are seven boys’ hostels and six girls’ hostels on campus, but the prospectus is upfront that CUK can’t promise every admitted student a room. Allotment is merit-cum-reservation, worked out department by department. You’ll also need proof of nativity, such as a residency certificate from your Tahsildar, when you apply for a room.
Day scholars skip Central University of Karnataka hostel fees, but getting to class takes some planning. The campus near Kadaganchi is about 21 km from the main Kalaburagi bus stand, around half an hour by bus. CUK has a tie-up with KSRTC, so buses run between the city and campus.
Food and Daily Needs on Campus
Skipped the mess? You’ve got options. There’s a vegetarian canteen and a non-vegetarian one, both open 12 hours a day. The shopping complex has a bakery, a salon and a stationery shop that does photocopies and printouts. A post office (PIN 585367) and a Canara Bank branch with an ATM are also on campus, which saves a lot of trips into town.
Central University of Karnataka Hostel Fees: Payment Rules
CUK’s July 2, 2026 hostel and mess fee notification for UG and PG girls keeps a 10% fine for late payment of hostel and mess fees. It also warns that the mess rate can go up if fewer students eat there, with the shortfall recovered from students. Until a new circular says otherwise, plan CUK hostel fees on those terms.

Total Central University of Karnataka Fees for BTech and BSc
Across four years, Central University of Karnataka fees for BTech come to roughly Rs 3,13,280 in academic fees, and a four-year BSc to about Rs 1,24,480. Treat both as estimates. CUK only publishes the first-year Central University of Karnataka fee structure for each new batch, so we did the maths ourselves: first-year fee + (remaining years x recurring yearly fee). The recurring part is just the first-year fee minus the one-time charges.
Is that a fair assumption? The record says yes. The 2025 BTech batch paid Rs 32,000 tuition a semester in its first year, going by CUK’s even-semester fee notification of December 17, 2025. In its second year, under the 2026-27 notice, it’s still paying Rs 32,000. Of course, the university is free to revise Central University of Karnataka fees at any point.
| Programme | Years | First year (Rs) | Each later year (Rs) | Estimated total (Rs) |
| BTech (all branches) | 4 | 81,920 | 77,120 | 3,13,280 |

| MSc Genetics and Genomics | 2 | 34,720 | 29,920 | 64,640 |
Semester-Wise Central University of Karnataka BTech Fees
Most families pay out of savings, so what they really want is the July and January amounts. Here are Central University of Karnataka BTech fees semester by semester for a student joining in 2026, assuming the batch keeps its 2026-27 rates. Only semester 1 carries the Rs 4,800 in one-time charges; every odd semester after that is Rs 39,920.
| Year | Odd semester, July (Rs) | Even semester, January (Rs) | Year total (Rs) |
| Year 1 | 44,720 | 37,200 | 81,920 |
| Year 2 | 39,920 | 37,200 | 77,120 |
| Year 3 | 39,920 | 37,200 | 77,120 |
| Year 4 | 39,920 | 37,200 | 77,120 |
| Total | 1,64,480 | 1,48,800 | 3,13,280 |
Worked Example: BTech Student in the Hostel
Let’s run one case. A General category student joins BTech Electrical Engineering in 2026-27 and gets a hostel room. In July, the Central University of Karnataka fees bill is Rs 44,720. Moving into the hostel costs Rs 6,950, and 150 days of mess at Rs 95 adds another Rs 14,250. All told, that first semester needs about Rs 65,920.
January brings CUK fees of Rs 37,200 plus that term’s hostel and mess. And remember, Rs 4,800 of the July payment comes back later: the Rs 1,800 caution deposit and the Rs 3,000 hostel security deposit.
How Much Did Central University of Karnataka Fees Rise for the 2026 Intake?
Handily, the 2026-27 notice prints Central University of Karnataka fees for two batches next to each other, so you get an official year-on-year comparison without any guesswork.
| Programme | Tuition per semester, 2025 intake (Rs) | Tuition per semester, 2026 intake (Rs) | Change |
| BTech (all branches) | 32,000 | 33,600 | +5% |
| BSc Physics | 10,000 | 10,000 | No change |
| BSc Chemistry | 9,000 | 10,000 | +11.1% |
| BSc Geology | 9,000 | 10,000 | +11.1% |
| MTech Power and Energy / RF and Microwave | 30,000 | 31,500 | +5% |
| MCA | 27,500 | 28,875 | +5% |
| MSc Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics | 10,000 | 10,500 | +5% |
To be clear, CUK hasn’t announced Central University of Karnataka fees for 2027-28, and we’re not going to guess a number. This table only shows what changed between the last two intakes.
What Do Central University of Karnataka Fees Pay For?
Apart from tuition, Central University of Karnataka fees for BTech and BSc include a Rs 2,500 lab fee every semester, plus library, computer lab, health centre and exam charges. That money goes into the labs, a central library you can access remotely, a computer centre on a 1 Gbps network and a health centre on campus. Tuition is still the biggest chunk by far.
| Fee head (per semester) | BTech (Rs) | BSc Physics/Chemistry/Geology (Rs) | MSc science (Rs) | MCA (Rs) |
| Tuition | 33,600 | 10,000 | 10,500 | 28,875 |
| Laboratory fee | 2,500 | 2,500 | 2,500 | 2,500 |
| Computer lab fee (odd semester) | 600 | 600 | 600 | Nil |
| Library fee (odd semester) | 600 | 600 | 600 | 600 |
| Exam fee | 600 | 600 | 600 | 600 |
| Health centre charges | 500 | 500 | 500 | 500 |
Labs and Research Facilities
Students paying Central University of Karnataka fees in science and engineering also get to use the Sophisticated Instrumentation Centre. According to the prospectus, it has a field-emission scanning electron microscope, single-crystal and powder X-ray diffractometers, a 600 MHz NMR, a physical property measurement system, ICP-MS and HR-ESI-MS, a clean room, a GPU server and a high-frequency electronics setup. Honestly, most BSc and BTech students will touch this in project work, not in regular lab hours.
Library, Computing and Health Services
The library fee within CUK fees pays for the Central Library, and its e-books, e-journals and databases work from off campus through remote login. The computer lab fee goes to the Computer Centre, which has a 40-system lab and runs Wi-Fi across campus, hostels included, on a 1 Gbps National Knowledge Network line.
That Rs 500 health centre charge each semester keeps a campus clinic running, with a senior doctor, a lady doctor, a nurse and a lab technician. There are in-patient ward facilities, basic tests (blood, urine, blood pressure) and an ambulance available round the clock. When you live 21 km out of the city, that’s a real part of what Central University of Karnataka fees get you.
Travel Costs for Out-of-State Families
Coming from outside Karnataka? Kalaburagi’s airport, about 12 km from the city, has flights to Bengaluru. The nearest international airport is Hyderabad, about 220 km away, three and a half hours or so by road. Trains connect Kalaburagi to Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Chennai. Budget for two or three trips home a year; that cost sits outside Central University of Karnataka fees.
Central University of Karnataka Fees for SC, ST and PwD Students
The 2026-27 prospectus gives reserved categories two breaks. SC, ST and PwD students put down a Rs 500 caution deposit instead of Rs 1,800. PwD students get a lot more: they pay only the admission fee and the caution deposit, and tuition and other semester charges are waived. SC and ST students also get extra time to pay. OBC and EWS students pay the regular fee.
| Category | What changes | BTech first year (Rs) | BSc first year (Rs) |
| General / OBC (NCL) / EWS | Full fee as notified | 81,920 | 34,720 |
| SC / ST | Caution deposit Rs 500; time concession for payment | 80,620 | 33,420 |
| PwD | Admission fee (Rs 2,000) and caution deposit (Rs 500) only | 2,500 | 2,500 |
The extra time for SC/ST students comes from university circulars dated June 3, 2023, and August 17, 2023. The prospectus doesn’t say how many extra days you get, so ask the accounts section when you report. SC and ST students can also borrow 16 books a semester from the library’s SC/ST Book Bank.
Reserved Seats at CUK
| Category | Share of seats |
| OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) | 27% |
| SC | 15% |
| ST | 7.5% |
| EWS (supernumerary) | 10% |
| Kalyana Karnataka Region, Article 371(J) (supernumerary) | 8% |
| Persons with Disabilities | 5% |
| Kashmiri Migrants / NSS-NCC-Sports / Wards of Defence Personnel | 1 supernumerary seat each, as per prospectus text |
If you’re from the Kalyana Karnataka region, there are 8% extra seats for you in UG and PG programmes. You must bring the 371(J) certificate from the competent authority, though; without it, the claim won’t be considered.
Scholarships and Loans to Cover CUK Fees
CUK’s Scholarship Cell helps students cover Central University of Karnataka fees through central and state scholarships, freeships and research fellowships. How much you get, and the income limit, depends on each scheme. CUK doesn’t set those.
| Support | Who it is for | Where to apply |
| Central government scholarships | Eligible UG and PG students | National Scholarship Portal |
| State scholarships (Karnataka, Odisha, Telangana, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and others) | Students domiciled in those states | Home state’s scholarship portal |
| GATE stipend | MTech Power and Energy Systems, RF and Microwave students with a valid GATE score | On admission with a valid GATE score (Rs 12,400 a month or as per AICTE norms) |
| Student and laptop loans | Students needing finance | Canara Bank branch on the CUK campus |
One practical warning. Scholarship money may arrive after the fee deadline. Plan to pay Central University of Karnataka fees from your own pocket first, unless your scheme specifically says otherwise.
BTech and BSc Admission 2027 and CUK Fee Payment Steps
There are two ways into BTech at the Central University of Karnataka: JEE Main for half the seats and CUET UG for the other half. BSc science seats go only through CUET UG. You pay Central University of Karnataka fees online once your name shows up on a CUK merit list, and the seat is confirmed only after the odd-semester fee is paid.
- Write JEE Main, CUET UG, or ideally both. For BTech, take CUET UG with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics so you’re in both pools. CUET registration happens on the NTA CUET portal.
- Apply to CUK as per its 2027-28 admission notice, then keep checking the CUK website for merit lists. Nothing comes by post.
- Look up your course’s odd-semester amount in that year’s Central University of Karnataka fee structure.
- Pay the odd-semester CUK fees online before the date given with the merit list. Last year’s (2025-26) fee notification sent students to the Project Samarth portal for this.
- Report to your department with original documents and category certificates. You’ll sign an anti-ragging undertaking (with a parent) and a declaration on your qualification, both printed in the prospectus.

CUK Fee Refund Policy and Caution Deposit
You won’t find a refund table in the 2026-27 notice on Central University of Karnataka fees. Cancellation refunds follow the UGC Fee Refund Policy instead. Its latest version, written for 2024-25, allowed a full refund for cancellations up to September 30 and a refund minus at most Rs 1,000 up to October 31. It stays in force until UGC issues a new one.
For admissions that run past those dates, UGC’s October 2018 notification takes over:
| When the student withdraws | Refund of fee |
| 15 days or more before the notified last date of admission | 100% (minus up to 5%, max Rs 5,000, processing) |
| Less than 15 days before the last date | 90% |
| 15 days or less after the last date | 80% |
| 16 to 30 days after the last date | 50% |
| More than 30 days after the last date | 0% |

JEE aspirants, pay attention here. Say you pay Central University of Karnataka fees for a BTech seat and then land a JoSAA or state counselling seat. Before you cancel, ask CUK’s academic section which cut-off dates apply that year, and get the answer in writing.
How to Get the Caution Deposit Back
The caution deposit within Central University of Karnataka fees (Rs 1,800, or Rs 500 for SC, ST and PwD) does come back, but only if you ask for it. University Ordinance No. 23 gives you one year after finishing the course to claim it; after that, it’s forfeited. The Rs 3,000 hostel security deposit is refunded separately.
