NEET 2022 is a national-level examination that grants successful candidates admission into the country’s different government and private medical colleges. It is the only entrance exam that paves the path for admission into various medical undergraduate courses in the top institutes of India like AIIMS, JIPMER, and many more. Candidates work hard day and night in the hope of securing an MBBS seat in their preferred medical college. Since NEET is an All-India level exam, it is highly competitive.

All the syllabus parts need to be studied thoroughly to crack the exam. The students need to be dedicated and focused at all preparation points if they want to clear it. Sincerity and strategic preparation is the only way to crack NEET 2022 exam.

Important Tricks and Tips to Prepare for NEET Chemistry 2022 exam

    Be confident:

Being confident is important for preparing for the exams effectively. If students give up because they find chemistry hard, they can never succeed. Facing their fears confidently and taking measures to overcome them is the best way to eliminate the fear and convert it into their strength.

    Start studying early:

The best tip students can follow for preparing for the NEET Chemistry 2022 Exam is to start studying early. This will ensure that they finish the syllabus on time and have enough time left for revisions. Students who start studying early are more confident to face the exam as they know they have given their best effort in the preparation.

    Avoid memorisation:

Memorisation is a poor tool that students use when they have no prior planning to tackle the exam. They tend to do all-nighters to cram everything the night before the exam. Some portions of the syllabus indeed need memorisation, but concepts should be understood from a fundamental level for the other parts.

    Revision:

Revision is the best tool that can be used to tackle any exam. Due to many chapters and concepts in the NEET Chemistry syllabus, students tend to forget what they have studied. This problem can be solved by revising the course material several times. The topics students revise often are less susceptible to being forgotten and easier to recall.

    Avoid procrastination:

Many students fall prey to procrastination which hampers them from preparing adequately for the exam. Students need to avoid distractions during their study time to ensure a solid preparation for the exam.

    Make well-organised and comprehensive notes:

When the exam is near and the time is limited, students can’t go back and revisit every book they studied for revisions. Having a well-prepared and reliable set of notes can be a blessing in such a scenario. Also, students tend to remember the information expressed in their handwriting more effectively and for a longer duration.

Make charts of the volatile information:

Certain parts of the NEET Chemistry syllabus contain volatile, fact-based information such as formulas and chemical reactions. Students can make a list of such information in the form of a chart and paste it on a wall in their study room that they see regularly. It will enable them to revise such information subconsciously even when they are not studying.

    Study the chemical reactions thoroughly:

Chemical reactions form an integral part of the NEET Chemistry Syllabus. Students must remember all parts of the reactions by heart, including the reactants, products, catalysts, temperature, and pressure conditions. Such information may be asked in exams in the form of multiple-choice questions. Those who find it hard to memorise reactions will help if they understand the reactions from the basic level by learning the compounds’ IUPAC names and chemical structures. Also, students can practise the reactions by trying to derive the products from the reactants and vice versa by balancing the number and types of atoms on the reactant and the product sides.

    Conclusion

Many students find Chemistry a difficult subject and tend to ignore studying it upto the last moment, which decreases their overall score and hampers their journey to success. Students need to realise that Chemistry carries a good weightage of 25% in the NEET exam, which is enough to increase or decrease their overall scores. Having gone through the entire discussion, students will be acquainted with the most important, high-weightage parts of the syllabus. This will help them understand the syllabus areas they need to focus more on. Through hard work and dedication, students can tackle all parts of the NEET Chemistry syllabus effectively and manage to get a good score in the exam.

FAQs About NEET 2022 Chemistry Syllabus

    1. How many chapters are there in the NEET Chemistry Syllabus?

The Chemistry syllabus of the NEET exam is quite vast. It comprises three main sections— Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Inorganic Chemistry and 30 total chapters. The Physical Chemistry section contains 11 chapters, Organic Chemistry section contains 14 chapters, and the Inorganic chemistry section contains nine chapters. Also, out of these 30 chapters, 14 chapters are included in the Class 11 syllabus, and 16 chapters are included in the Class 12 syllabus. Students need to study the NCERT textbooks for classes 11 and 12 thoroughly if they want to get a good score on the NEET exam. Some additional books will also need to be consulted to clarify the difficult concepts.

    2. Is it possible to score more than 160 marks in NEET Chemistry?

Chemistry can be a challenging subject, but it is possible to score more than 160 marks in the NEET Chemistry paper if studied using the right strategies. Chemistry is very scoring. If the students have studied the NCERT textbooks for Chemistry, understood the concepts therein, and practised a vast range of questions, no one can stop them from doing well in the NEET exam, scoring good marks, and cracking the exam. This is because a majority of the questions in the NEET paper are directly from the NCERT textbooks or based on the concepts discussed therein.

    3. Why is making your own notes important?

Making your notes is an integral part of good exam preparation. It helps students in two ways. When they write the notes, they are forced to pay attention to every concept the teacher discusses, so they are actively learning them. Also, they have a copy of the concepts in the form of notes that they can refer to in the future. Revisiting the notes later reminds them of the lecture and helps them to recall all the information regarding the concepts. They also help them recall any shortcuts or mnemonics that the teacher might have discussed in the lecture to make memorising the fact-based information easier. Students must ensure that they make clear and organised notes that they easily understand later. If the notes are not clear to them later, it will defeat the whole purpose of making them.

    4. Why is solving Previous Year Question Papers important for NEET preparation?

Practising Previous Year Question Papers is beneficial to scoring high marks in the NEET exam. Not doing so can make the students miss out on some questions in the exam that they could have attempted otherwise. Every year a few questions are asked in the paper directly or indirectly from the previous year’s question papers. Moreover, solving Previous Year Question Papers acquaints the students with the examiner’s style of asking questions which helps them mould their preparation in accordance with the exam pattern. It also teaches them time management skills. They know what to expect in the exam so they are better prepared with a higher confidence level.

    5. Why is attending mock tests important?

If a student goes to a competitive exam without attending the mock tests, they commit a big mistake. Mock tests simulate the conditions of the main exam in terms of the question pattern, time, and difficulty level. So, attending those prepares the students more effectively for the main exams and also makes them feel more confident. Students should learn the ideal way of using mock tests to derive maximum advantage. The ideal way to use mock tests is to analyse the paper fully after finishing it, point out the mistakes, note them down, and read the topics they are based on again. Doing so will decrease the risks of repeating the same mistakes in the real exam. Acknowledging your mistakes at the right time and rectifying them is much better than committing those mistakes in the real exam.
