    Every year Coal Miners’ Day is celebrated on May 4. This day is celebrated for the miners who are working in a particular field. Coal is the basic form of energy. Coal is one of the major fossil fuels that contain rich Carbon. It is one of the most important primary fossil fuels that is rich in carbon. Miners put their lives at risk by tunneling, digging, and extracting coal every single day. Many miners face lung diseases that are caused due to the inhalation of coal dust the whole day. From this, we can conclude that coal mining is one of the most dangerous professions. India’s half of the commercial energy needs are fulfilled by the coal industry. It’s the fuel for generating power, making steel and cement.

    Sometimes miners face lung disease due to the inhale of coals and pollution, and sometimes they can face respiratory issues, etc. Coal mining can be defined as the extraction of coals received from the ground. Coal Miners’ Day is celebrated every year to respect the coal miner’s sacrifice and their contribution to the nation. They spend most of their time in the fielding process. Coal Mining is one of the toughest professions among many other professions. Coal Mining helps to improve economic development in our country.

    Coal Miner’s Day – History

    Coal mining was begun in India in 1774. Coal Miners became significant during the period of the industrial revolution between 1760 and 1840. In that period, coal was significantly used for many purposes.

    In the 19th Century, Coal was highly used in both government and management. Some of the highly rich coal-producing countries are Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, and some central parts of the country. The first coal mining began in Raniganj coalfields which are located on the banks of the Damodar river.

    Every year Coal Miners’ Day is associated with a specific theme. The main theme of this day is to raise awareness about the importance of coal mining. The Coal Miners Day 2022 Themes is yet to be announced.

    Coal Miners’ Day 2022: Significance

    Coal is producing electricity day by day. Nowadays coal produces more than 36% of electricity. It lights up houses, buildings, factories, etc. It also produces more heat and power to run electricity. Coal is used as a fuel to run up the speeds of the train. It produces several gas products, it will be useful for so many industries like the cement industry, and paper industry. Not only this it will be helpful in the steel industry, aluminum industry, etc.

    How has it helped the Miners?

    The use of modern technologies has helped the miners reduce their efforts and minimize dust generation by practicing wet drilling. These projects not only helped minimize air pollution but also resulted in a substantial reduction of carbon footprint. Even today, coal miners continue to work in an environment that is inherently toxic and unhealthy. They still go through health impairments and a shorter life span than others to help us out in many ways.
