The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) disclosed the results for the ICSE and ISC on May 6, with an impressive overall pass percentage of 99.47 percent this year.
For the ICSE (Class X) Year 2024 Examination, approximately 2,695 schools presented candidates, with an outstanding 82.48 percent (2,223) schools achieving a 100 percent pass percentage. Similarly, for the ISC (Class XII) Year 2024 Examination, about 1,366 schools presented candidates, out of which 66.18 percent (904) achieved a perfect pass percentage.
Girls outshone boys in both the ICSE and ISC exams, with a pass percentage of 99.65 percent and 98.92 percent, respectively. Boys recorded pass percentages of 99.31 percent and 97.53 percent in the ICSE and ISC exams, respectively. This year, 2,43,617 students appeared for the Class 10 board exams, an increase from the previous year’s 237,631 candidates. Last year’s pass percentage for Class 10 exams was 98.94 percent.
In both the ICSE and ISC exams, more boys appeared compared to girls. Among the candidates who appeared for the ICSE 2024 exams, 53.57 percent were boys, while in the ISC exams, boys comprised 52.82 percent of the total candidates. The board has announced the schedule for improvement exams for candidates who did not pass the test, which will take place in July.
Following the declaration of ICSE and ISC results, CISCE will permit students to request re-checking and re-evaluation for a fee of Rs 1,000 per paper and Rs 1,500 per paper, respectively. The option to apply for these processes will be available on the council’s website after the results are announced.
Exam results over the years have shown consistent excellence. In 2023, the overall pass percentage was 98.94 percent, while in 2022, it reached a record high of 99.97 percent. In 2021, both girls and boys achieved a pass percentage of 99.98 percent, while in 2020, amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, the pass percentage stood at 99.33 percent. In 2019, the overall pass percentage was 98.54 percent, with girls leading in performance.
