How to Plot Points in a Cartesian Plane?

A city has two main roads which cross each other at the centre of the city. These two roads are along the North-South direction and East-West direction. the given solutioin is represented in the image below

Using the scale 1cm = 200m, draw 5 streets of the city 200 m apart from each other in each direction running parallel to these roads. Represent the roads/streets by single lines.

5 lines are drawn in both directions, 1cm apart from each other.

Each cross-streets in your model is made of two streets, one running in the N-S direction and another in the E-W direction. Each cross street is referred to in the following manner:

(Continues)

If the 2nd street running in the North-South direction and the 5th in the East-West direction meet at some crossing, then we will call this cross-street (2,5).

2nd street running in the N-S direction meet 5th line in  E-W direction at(2,5) as highlighted.

Using this conversion, find: (i) How many cross-streets can be referred to as (4,3)?

Only 1 cross street is referred to as  (4, 3) by a 4th line in the N-S direction & a 3rd line in the E-W direction.

(ii) How many cross-streets can be referred to as (3,4)?

Here also, only 1 cross street is referred to as (3, 4) by a 3rd line in the N-S direction & a 4th line in the E-W direction.
