Top Engineering Colleges in India 2022<\/strong>: JEE Main, the national-level entrance exam for admission to engineering institutes, is conducted every year. It’s a dream for many students to get into a top engineering college. However, many would be confused about which college to get into.<\/p>\n

List of Top 6 Engineering Colleges in India<\/h3>\n

Listed below are the top engineering colleges<\/a> in India based on the NIRF Rankings released by the Minister for Education.<\/p>\n

1. Indian Institute of Technology Madras<\/strong><\/p>\n

Located in Chennai, it is one of the most prestigious universities in India. It was the third IIT founded in 1959 with technical and financial assistance from the former government of West Germany. It has 16 academic departments and a few advanced research centers in various disciplines of Engineering, Sciences, Humanities, and Management.<\/p>\n

2. Indian Institute of Technology Delhi<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Indian Institute of Technology is a public engineering institution located in the capital. The school was originally named as College of Engineering & Technology and began functioning in 1961. It is one of the globally recognized institutes. It offers a graduate degree in various disciplines of Engineering.<\/p>\n

3. Indian Institute of Technology Bombay<\/strong><\/p>\n

The second of its kind, IITB was established with foreign assistance in 1958. Since its set up, the institute has attained worldwide recognition due to its outstanding faculty. Currently, the institute has 14 academic departments, 6 centers, 1 school, and 3 interdisciplinary programs.<\/p>\n

4. Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur<\/strong><\/p>\n

IIT Kanpur was set up in 1959 by an Act of Parliament. It was the first institute to initiate Computer Science Education in India. In 1959, the institute started its journey in a room which has now expanded to a full-fledged campus with all the facilities.<\/p>\n

5. Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur<\/strong><\/p>\n

The first Indian Institute of Technology was established in 1951 by the government of India. It has the biggest campus, maximum departments, and the highest enrolment. Besides academics, IIT Kharagpur is known for its festivals \u2013 Spring Fet (Social and Cultural Festival) and Kshitij (Asia\u2019s largest Techno-Management Festival).<\/p>\n

6. Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee<\/strong><\/p>\n

The IIT Roorkee was formerly known as the University of Roorkee and the Thomason College of Civil Engineering. It was established in 1847 by the British Government and was given university status in 1949 which later was converted into IIT in 2001. It was the 7th IIT to be declared. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in 21 academic departments covering Engineering, Applied Sciences, Humanities & Social Sciences, and Management.<\/p>\n
