NIELIT Imphal is one of the campuses of NIELIT Deemed to be University, which falls under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. In 2026-27 it ran 12 programmes, from diplomas up to PhD. The one most JEE aspirants look for is the B.Tech in CSE (AI and ML): 60 seats, filled through JoSAA, at Rs 50,000 tuition a semester. NIELIT Imphal at a Glance<\/b><\/h3>\n

The campus sits at Akampat in Imphal East. It started in 1988 as a DOEACC and CEDTI centre and began classes in July 1989. Today it is one of the university\u2019s constituent campuses. NIELIT got deemed university status through a Gazette notification dated July 15, 2024, with its main campus at Ropar in Punjab.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Courses and Seats at NIELIT Imphal (2026-27)<\/b><\/h3>\n

Four programmes here are engineering: the B.Tech, the M.Tech and two diplomas. BCA is by far the biggest course, with 180 seats, three times the B.Tech intake.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

How Admission Works<\/b><\/h3>\n

B.Tech seats go through JoSAA first. Whatever stays empty after the last JoSAA round goes to the university\u2019s own entrance test. M.Tech is split down the middle between CCMT and that test. Every other course, from the diplomas to MCA, admits through the entrance test alone.<\/span><\/p>\n

Getting a B.Tech seat<\/b><\/h4>\n
    \n
  1. Write JEE Main and register for JoSAA counselling at josaa.nic.in.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. During choice filling, add the B.Tech CSE (AI and ML) seat at NIELIT Imphal. You\u2019ll find it in the Other GFTIs list.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Once allotted, report to the campus and pay the first instalment of the semester fee.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Missed out in JoSAA? If seats are left, register on the university\u2019s admission portal and take the entrance test.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    M.Tech, diploma and the rest<\/b><\/h4>\n

    Fifteen of the 30 M.Tech AI seats are filled through CCMT on GATE score. The other 15 open up after CCMT ends, through the entrance test.<\/span><\/p>\n

    In 2026, registration for B.Tech, MCA and PG Diploma stayed open from March 27 to June 12 (MCA and PG Diploma also had a second round, June 22 to July 17). Diploma and BCA ran in two rounds: the first closed on May 20, the second ran from May 27 to June 12.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Expect the 2027-28 window to open around late March 2027 if the university follows last year\u2019s schedule.<\/span><\/p>\n

    NIELIT Imphal Fee Structure 2026-27<\/b><\/h3>\n

    There\u2019s no separate fee list for Imphal. One fee order for 2026-27 covers every campus of the university. You pay each semester in two instalments. Semester I is the heaviest because it carries a Rs 5,000 admission fee and a Rs 5,000 security deposit on top.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

    Here\u2019s how Semester I adds up: Rs 5,000 admission fee, Rs 5,000 security deposit, Rs 5,000 academic fee, the tuition, and a Rs 2,500 exam fee. After that, odd semesters charge the Rs 5,000 academic fee again. Even semesters are just tuition plus exam fee.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Pay the first instalment by the day you report. Pay late and it costs you: Rs 1,000 extra within 15 days, Rs 2,000 within 30.<\/span><\/p>\n

    SC\/ST students don\u2019t pay tuition or exam fees, as per Government of India rules. Hostel and mess are a separate bill, set by each campus. Imphal hasn\u2019t put its hostel fee on the university website, so ask the campus office before you budget.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Cut-off, Placements and Ranking<\/b><\/h3>\n

    JoSAA publishes the opening and closing ranks for this B.Tech seat, round by round, on josaa.nic.in. As of October 21, 2026, the university\u2019s website has no placement report or NIRF data for the Imphal campus.<\/span><\/p>\n
