A major transition took place when the institute shifted to its permanent campus at Ranpur, Kota. The campus covers approximately 100.37 acres and now accommodates academic activities, laboratories, hostels, dining facilities, student clubs and other institute infrastructure.

The institute currently offers three B.Tech programmes: Computer Science and Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering, and Electronics and Communication Engineering. At the postgraduate level, IIIT Kota offers M.Tech in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science through the CSE department and M.Tech in Semiconductor Technology through ECE. The institute also offers PhD programmes.

IIIT Kota Campus & Hostel Facilities

IIIT Kota now operates from its permanent campus at Ranpur. Spread across approximately 100.37 acres, the campus brings academic, residential and student-life facilities together after the institute’s earlier years at MNIT Jaipur.

Academic Infrastructure

The academic infrastructure is particularly strong in computing and electronics. The CSE department has more than 600 systems, including hundreds of workstations used across teaching, project and research laboratories.

Dedicated computing facilities support artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, algorithms, computer networks and other research-oriented areas. The ECE department operates laboratories in VLSI, embedded systems, signal processing, optical communication, instrumentation and drone technologies. The institute also has smart lecture theatres, a central computing facility and an auditorium for academic events, seminars and student activities.

Library

IIIT Kota’s library supports undergraduate, postgraduate and research work through print as well as electronic resources. Students have access to books, journals and digital academic databases. Institutional access to resources such as e-ShodhSindhu also helps students use research papers, journals and other scholarly material for coursework, projects and dissertations.

Hostel Facilities

Separate hostel accommodation is available for boys and girls on the permanent campus. The boys’ hostel has more than 700 beds, while the girls’ hostel has approximately 144 beds. Hostel residents have internet connectivity and access to the institute’s residential facilities.

Since the hostels and academic buildings are now located within the same permanent campus, students no longer have the separation between academic and residential spaces that existed during IIIT Kota’s temporary-campus phase.

Mess & Dining

Hostel students use the campus mess for regular meals, while a separate canteen provides snacks and additional food options. The hostel fee includes seat rent, electricity and water charges along with a mess advance. First-semester students also pay one-time hostel charges and a refundable hostel caution deposit.

Student Clubs & Activities

Student life at IIIT Kota includes technical, cultural and extracurricular clubs. Technical communities include:

Algorithmus: competitive programming

CodeBase: software development

ARC Robotics: robotics-related projects

CYPH3R: cybersecurity

Google Developer Groups: workshops, development activities and collaborative technical projects

These clubs give students opportunities to work on projects beyond the formal curriculum and participate in coding, cybersecurity, robotics and software-development activities.

Technical Events

TechSummit is one of the institute’s major technical events. It brings together workshops, hackathons, competitions and other activities in areas such as artificial intelligence, IoT, robotics and computing. Such events complement classroom learning by giving students opportunities to work on practical problems, build projects and participate in team-based competitions.

Sports & Recreation

The permanent campus also supports sports and recreational activities alongside academic and technical clubs. Students can participate in institute-level sports, cultural programmes and other extracurricular events organised through student bodies and clubs.

IIIT Kota Highlights 2026-27

Established

2013

Status

Institute of National Importance

Model

Public-Private Partnership

Permanent Campus

Ranpur, Kota

Campus Area

Approx. 100.37 acres

B.Tech Programmes

3

Total B.Tech Seats

330

CSE Seats

180

AI & Data Engineering Seats

60

ECE Seats

90

B.Tech Entrance

JEE Main

B.Tech Counselling

JoSAA / CSAB

M.Tech Programmes

AI & Data Science; Semiconductor Technology

M.Tech Admission

GATE + CCMT / self-financed route

PhD

Available

2026 CSE Final JoSAA Closing Rank

31,149

2026 AIDE Closing Rank

33,638

2026 ECE Closing Rank

39,667

Tuition Fee

₹90,000 per semester

2026 Placement Rate

95.23%

2026 Average Package

₹18.66 LPA

2026 Median Package

₹14 LPA

2026 Highest Package

₹56 LPA

B.Tech Programmes at IIIT Kota

B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering

Computer Science and Engineering is the largest B.Tech programme at IIIT Kota. The 2026 intake was 180 students, including 144 gender-neutral seats and 36 female-only supernumerary seats.

The curriculum covers programming, data structures, algorithms, databases, computer networks, operating systems, software engineering, computer architecture and theory of computation. Students can then move towards areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, data science and other emerging computing technologies.

The department’s laboratory infrastructure supports this progression. Students have access to dedicated AI and machine-learning laboratories, data-science facilities, algorithm and network laboratories and research workspaces. Project work, research seminars and internships add an applied component to the curriculum.

CSE also has the strongest current placement average at the institute. For the 2026 graduating cohort, the official brochure reports a highest CTC of ₹56 LPA, an average CTC of ₹20.09 LPA and a median of ₹14 LPA.

B.Tech in Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering

Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering is the newer undergraduate computing programme. The 2026 intake was 60 seats, with 48 gender-neutral and 12 female-only seats.

The programme combines conventional computer-science foundations with artificial intelligence, machine learning, statistics, analytics and data engineering. The data engineering component broadens the programme beyond AI modelling alone, as students also need to understand the systems used to collect, store, process and serve large volumes of data reliably.

This makes the programme relevant to roles in AI/ML engineering, data science, analytics, backend data systems and software development.

Because the programme is newer, its graduating placement history is not yet directly comparable with the established CSE and ECE cohorts. Current institute-level placement statistics should therefore not be interpreted as a separate AIDE placement average.

B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering

ECE offered 90 seats in the 2026 matrix, including 72 gender-neutral and 18 female-only seats.

The programme covers electronic circuits, digital systems, communication engineering, signals and systems, embedded systems, VLSI, instrumentation and semiconductor technologies. Dedicated laboratories support optical communication, signal processing, FPGA and VLSI work, embedded systems and high-frequency electronics.

Modern ECE also overlaps increasingly with software. Students may work in IoT, embedded programming, wireless systems, semiconductor design or software-oriented technology roles depending on their electives and projects.

The 2026 graduating ECE cohort recorded a 98.07% placement rate, an average CTC of ₹14.73 LPA, a median of ₹14 LPA and a highest CTC of ₹47 LPA.

IIIT Kota B.Tech Seat Matrix 2026

Programme

Gender-Neutral

Female-Only

Total

Computer Science and Engineering

144

36

180

Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering

48

12

60

Electronics and Communication Engineering

72

18

90

Total

264

66

330

M.Tech Programmes at IIIT Kota

IIIT Kota currently offers two regular two-year M.Tech programmes. Both are listed in the 2026-27 postgraduate admissions structure and participate in CCMT for regular GATE-qualified admission.

M.Tech CSE – Artificial Intelligence and Data Science

Students study advanced artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, statistical computing, optimisation, big-data analytics, information retrieval, computer vision and natural language processing. A major project or research component allows students to develop depth beyond taught coursework.

The programme is aimed at students interested in specialised technical roles as well as research-oriented careers. Potential areas include AI/ML engineering, data science, analytics, research engineering and doctoral study.

M.Tech ECE – Semiconductor Technology

The curriculum covers advanced semiconductor devices, CMOS circuits, analog and digital IC design, physical design, semiconductor fabrication, nanofabrication, MEMS, semiconductor characterisation and embedded systems.

The programme is particularly relevant to the growing semiconductor and chip-design ecosystem. Graduates can target areas such as VLSI design, physical design, silicon validation, semiconductor testing, fabrication-related engineering and embedded hardware.

PhD Programmes at IIIT Kota

IIIT Kota offers PhD admission through the CSE and ECE departments, with full-time and part-time categories. Current PhD categories include full-time scholars with institute assistantship, candidates holding their own scholarships such as CSIR/UGC NET-JRF, sponsored full-time candidates, part-time external sponsored candidates and IIIT Kota project staff.

PhD in Computer Science and Engineering

Current CSE research areas include generative AI, large language models, cybersecurity, machine learning, optimisation, explainable AI, cloud services, network virtualisation, quantum computing and related systems research.

PhD in Electronics and Communication Engineering

ECE research areas include optical communication, free-space optics, FPGA systems, 5G and 6G technologies, MIMO, OFDM, NOMA, microelectronics, semiconductor devices, intelligent sensors, biomedical applications, antenna systems and AI/ML-based wireless systems.

Course-wise Duration & Admission Route

Programme

Duration

Admission Route

B.Tech CSE

4 years

JEE Main + JoSAA

B.Tech AIDE

4 years

JEE Main + JoSAA

B.Tech ECE

4 years

JEE Main + JoSAA

M.Tech AI & Data Science

2 years

GATE + CCMT / self-financed route

M.Tech Semiconductor Technology

2 years

GATE + CCMT / self-financed route

PhD

Varies

Direct institute application + selection

IIIT Kota Eligibility Criteria

B.Tech Eligibility

B.Tech applicants must qualify JEE Main and satisfy the NIT+ academic eligibility rules. Candidates generally need either at least 75% aggregate marks in Class 12 or a position within the category-wise top 20 percentile of their qualifying board. For SC, ST and PwD candidates, the marks threshold is 65%.

Admission itself is based on JEE Main rank through JoSAA and, if seats remain, CSAB Special Rounds. IIIT Kota does not conduct a separate undergraduate entrance examination.

M.Tech Eligibility

Regular M.Tech applicants need a relevant bachelor’s degree and a valid GATE score for admission through CCMT.

Under the standard CCMT eligibility framework, General, EWS and OBC candidates normally require at least 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA in the qualifying degree, while SC, ST and PwD candidates require at least 55% or 6.0 CGPA. Programme-specific degree and GATE-paper combinations are defined through the CCMT eligibility matrix.

Students applying to AI & Data Science normally come from CSE, IT and related computing or engineering backgrounds. Semiconductor Technology is intended primarily for candidates from electronics, communication, electrical and related engineering areas.

IIIT Kota also lists a self-financed admission route for its 2026-27 M.Tech programmes. Self-financed seats are handled separately from regular scholarship-bearing CCMT seats.

PhD Eligibility

PhD applicants need a relevant B.E./B.Tech and/or M.E./M.Tech or equivalent qualification in the research discipline. The institute’s PhD admission rules set a minimum of 60% marks or 6.0 CGPA for general eligibility, with relaxation to 55% or 5.5 CGPA for SC/ST applicants. Departments can apply additional shortlisting criteria depending on the research area and number of applicants.

Sponsored and part-time candidates also need the relevant employer or sponsorship documentation.

IIIT Kota Admission Process 2026-27

B.Tech Admission

Appear for JEE Main: Students seeking B.Tech admission first appear for JEE Main and receive an All India Rank.

Register for JoSAA: Eligible candidates register for JoSAA and list IIIT Kota’s CSE, AIDE and ECE programmes in their preferred order.

Seat allotment: JoSAA evaluates each candidate against the choices entered. A student is allotted the highest preference for which their rank, category and seat pool are sufficient.

Seat acceptance: Candidates complete the prescribed seat-acceptance payment and document verification. Students who want to retain the allotted programme can freeze it, while those seeking an upgrade use the option applicable under that year’s JoSAA rules.

Institute reporting: After JoSAA ends, candidates follow the institute’s reporting instructions, pay the remaining balance after central counselling payments are adjusted and submit the required original documents.

CSAB Special Rounds

CSAB fills NIT+ seats remaining vacant after regular JoSAA counselling. Students register separately for CSAB and submit a fresh or permitted choice list according to that year’s rules. Because CSAB deals only with remaining vacancies, programmes can move significantly beyond their final regular JoSAA ranks.

A student targeting IIIT Kota with a rank slightly outside the regular JoSAA range should therefore examine previous CSAB data, but should not assume that the same vacancies will be available every year.

M.Tech Admission

For regular M.Tech seats, candidates appear for GATE and register separately for CCMT. They enter IIIT Kota and the desired specialisation in their preference list. CCMT allocates seats according to GATE score, category, eligibility and choice order. Candidates receiving IIIT Kota complete CCMT acceptance before reporting to the institute.

The institute also advertises self-financed M.Tech admission. These seats follow the IIIT Kota instructions for that cycle rather than being treated as ordinary scholarship-bearing CCMT seats.

PhD Admission

PhD candidates apply directly to IIIT Kota rather than through CCMT. The institute usually admits PhD scholars in both odd and even semesters. Applications are first screened for eligibility, and shortlisted candidates then appear for an institute written test followed by an interview.

For the recent even-semester admission cycle, both the written test and interview were conducted at the Ranpur campus. Applicants should prepare not only their qualification documents but also subject knowledge and a clear explanation of their proposed research interests.

Typical Admission Timeline

Programme

Typical Stage

B.Tech

JEE Main in Jan/Apr → JoSAA in Jun/Jul → CSAB if required

M.Tech

GATE in Feb → CCMT in summer → institute reporting

Self-financed M.Tech

Separate IIIT Kota notification

PhD

Institute notification; typically odd and even semester intakes

IIIT Kota B.Tech Cutoff 2026

The 2026 JoSAA cutoffs for OPEN, gender-neutral seats were as follows.

Programme

Round 1 Opening

Round 1 Closing

Final JoSAA Closing

CSE

17,752

27,568

31,149

AI & Data Engineering

21,347

29,872

33,638

ECE

23,695

34,014

39,667

CSE remained the most competitive programme, followed by AIDE and ECE.

CSE Round-wise Closing Ranks 2026

Round

Closing Rank

Round 1

27,568

Round 2

30,039

Round 3

30,144

Round 4

30,176

Round 5

31,149

IIIT Kota CSAB Cutoff 2026

Programme

CSAB Round I

CSAB Round II

CSE

33,244

33,728

AIDE

36,183

38,416

ECE

44,804

47,440

IIIT Kota M.Tech GATE Cutoff 2026

CCMT Round 1 had the following cutoffs.

Programme

Maximum GATE Score

Minimum GATE Score

AI & Data Science

573

514

Semiconductor Technology

422

373

IIIT Kota Fee Structure 2026-27

B.Tech Fee Structure

For General, OBC-NCL and EWS students, the B.Tech tuition fee is ₹90,000 per semester. The cutoff moved further during CSAB, reaching 33,728 in Special Round II. CSE remained the most competitive B.Tech programme at IIIT Kota during the 2026 admission cycle. Applicants preparing for the next cycle can use these figures as a reference, although actual cutoffs change each year depending on applicant demand, seat availability and counselling movement.

</details>
<details>

What is the AIDE cutoff at IIIT Kota?

B.Tech Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering closed at 33,638 in final JoSAA Round 5 for OPEN gender-neutral seats in 2026.
