According to officials, the Central Government has granted an exemption to undergraduate students from Meghalaya and Nagaland who are applying for admission to colleges affiliated with central universities in these states from CUET. The North Eastern Hill University in Meghalaya and Nagaland University in Nagaland are both designated as central universities.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma expressed gratitude to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan for exempting undergraduate students from Meghalaya seeking admission to colleges affiliated with the North Eastern Hill University, a central university.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHappy to inform our students that admissions to affiliated colleges to Central University\u2019s in Meghalaya have been exempted from CUET for this academic year. I thank @dpradhanbjp ji for his continuous support and understanding,\u201d the Meghalaya CM said in a post on X.<\/span><\/p>\n

The exemption from CUET was granted in response to requests from the state governments to the National Testing Agency (NTA), which administered CUET for undergraduate admissions in the central universities of Meghalaya and Nagaland.<\/span><\/p>\n

In accordance with the central ministry’s decision, the UGC has authorized admissions in affiliated colleges based on existing norms in the states, granting exemption from CUET for the academic year 2024-25.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Central University Entrance Test (CUET) encountered challenges in Meghalaya and Nagaland following its commencement on May 15th.<\/span><\/p>\n
