{"id":273945,"date":"2023-06-30T16:34:23","date_gmt":"2023-06-30T11:04:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aakash.ac.in\/blog\/?p=273945"},"modified":"2024-04-15T16:51:46","modified_gmt":"2024-04-15T11:21:46","slug":"all-you-need-to-know-about-the-proposed-next","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.aakash.ac.in\/blog\/all-you-need-to-know-about-the-proposed-next\/","title":{"rendered":"All you need to know about the proposed NExT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) (UG) is an all-India entrance test used by students aspiring to pursue MBBS courses, including dental (BDS) and AYUSH (BAMS, BUMS, BHMS, etc.) courses, at both government and private institutions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">In contrast, NExT is a proposed uniform exit test intended to serve as a qualifying final for MBBS students. Its purpose is to enable students to obtain a license to practice modern medicine in India or to be eligible for merit-based allocation of PG seats for specialization, effectively replacing NEET PG and INI CET. Additionally, NExT will also be required for foreign medical degree holders who wish to practice medicine in India.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">The responsibility of conducting the NExT examination has been entrusted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi. They have announced a Mock test on the 28th of July 2023, for which the registration has already begun and the closing date for registration is 10.07.2023. This exam is expected to evaluate the student&#8217;s proficiency in both clinical and practical aspects of their learning. To register now, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/next.aiimsexams.ac.in\/Login#!\"><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">click here<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Exam pattern<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">The NExT exam will be conducted into two phases:<\/span><i><\/i><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><i>NExT Step 1<\/i><\/span><\/strong><i><\/i><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">In step 1, there will be a theoretical MCQ-based online exam of 6 papers.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">The subjects included are:<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Medicine and allied disciplines<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Surgery and allied disciplines<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Obstetrics and Gynaecology<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Paediatrics<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Otorhinolaryngology\/ENT<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Ophthalmology<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">NExT step 1 and their supplementary exam will be held twice a year (May &amp; November).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">The candidate can attempt the NExT step 1 a number of times provided the candidate has passed both step 1 and step 2 exam within 10 years of joining the MBBS program.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><i>NExT Step 2<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">In step 2, there will be one practical and viva exam covering 7 clinical subjects. This exam will be attempted by the students after the completion of their internship.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">The subjects included are:<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Medicine and allied disciplines<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Surgery and allied disciplines<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Obstetrics and Gynaecology<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Paediatrics<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Otorhinolaryngology<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Ophthalmology<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 300;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Orthopaedics and PMR (Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>How NExT is different from NEET PG?<\/h2>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><b>NEET PG<\/b><\/td>\n<td><b>NExT<\/b><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">NEET PG exam is for students who want to do MD\/MS after their MBBS.<\/span><\/td>\n<td><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">NExT exam is a combination of Exit test for MBBS students and PG examination.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">NEET PG exam is only one single-day MCQ-based exam (300 questions) of 3.5 hours.<\/span><\/td>\n<td><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">In NExT exam students have to give two exams (NExT Step 1 and NExT Step 2) and qualify both exams.
