Here&#8217;s what you need to know"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">IOQM is India&#8217;s first stage of the MOP (Mathematical Olympiad Programme) to qualify for the IMO (International Mathematical Olympiad). It is a three-hour examination conducted by the MTA (Maths Teachers&#8217; Association), the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT), the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research\u00a0 (TIFR).<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 Its main purpose is to spot mathematical talent among pre-university students in the country. Students who clear IOQM 2023 are qualified for the later stages.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Who Are Eligible To Take Part in the IOQM?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Before knowing more about the competition, consider the eligibility criteria. The eligibility criteria for participating in IOQM are:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students born between August 1, 2004, and January 1, 2011, and studying in Class 8, 9, <\/span>10, 11 or 12, are eligible to write IOQM 2023. Please note that NO student born after January 1, 2011, will be allowed to write IOQM 2023.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The students must be eligible to hold an Indian passport. Provisionally, students with OCI <\/span>cards are eligible to write the IOQM 2023 subject to the conditions as explained below:<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As per the orders of the Madras High Court, students with OCI status will not <\/span>be eligible for selection to the Indian team in the International Mathematical Olympiad. However, such students are provisionally eligible for selection at ALL prior stages, up to and including the International Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp (IMOTC) provided they fulfil all other criteria. They are also <span>provisionally eligible to write the selection tests at the IMOTC.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The student must be residing and studying in India since 30 October 2021 or earlier <\/span>OR must be studying in an Indian school system since 30 October 2021 or earlier.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If the student is residing abroad and is studying in an Indian school system then <\/span>the student will have to come to India to write IOQM 2023 and the examinations of the subsequent stages (i.e Regional Mathematical Olympiad (RMO) 2023 and Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO) 2024) in case s\/he qualifies for these examinations.<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The student must not have qualified (or scheduled to appear) class 12 board examination <\/span>earlier than 30 October 2023.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The student must not have commenced (or planning to commence) studies in a university or <\/span>equivalent institution by 1 June 2024.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The INMO 2023 Awardees are eligible to write INMO 2024 directly WITHOUT qualifying through IOQM 2023 and RMO 2023 provided they haven\u2019t commenced (or planning to commence by June 1, 2024) studies in a university or equivalent institution and they fulfil the eligibility criteria of IMO 2024 and EGMO 2025.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">IOQM Examination Pattern\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The students should understand the exam pattern and prepare accordingly.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The IOQM assessment comprises 24 questions.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The duration of the exam is 3 hours.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The highest possible score for a student taking the IOQM test is 100.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Every question in the IOQM exam is an integer within the 00-99, with no negative markings.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The question paper follows the OMR pattern.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The IOQM exam paper consists of ten 2-mark questions, twelve 5-mark questions, and two 10-mark questions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Around 600 students from all regions are chosen to move on to the next level of the IMO.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Certificates will be given to students who achieve at least 20% of the total marks in the IOQM exam.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What to Prepare for IOQM?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By analysing the previous years&#8217;
