Every year, lakhs of students attempt the NEET exam to get admission to the best medical college/ institution/university in India. This year, it is going to be conducted in an offline mode on May 7, 2023.

As it is a national-level exam, the difficulty level is also high. So, aspirants must ponder the fact that what is the difficulty level of the NEET exam every year.

The NEET exam comprises three subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. This article aims to analyze the difficulty level of NEET Physics for students.

Understanding the NEET 2023 Physics Section Marking Scheme

The NEET 2023 Physics segment will consist of 50 questions categorized into sections: Section I and II.

Section I consists of 35 MCQs (multiple choice questions) that weigh 140 marks. The marking scheme for MCQs will be (+4) for each correct selection, (-1) for each incorrect option, and (0) for all unattempted questions.

In contrast, Section II consists of 15 numerical-based questions, out of which candidates must attempt only ten questions. The marking scheme for this section will be (+4) for each correct answer, (-1) for every incorrect reply, and (0) in all other cases. This segment weighs 40 marks.

Therefore, the overall weightage of the NEET Physics section will be 180 marks.

Analysis of NEET Physics Section

Every year, there is a notable increase in the number of applicants for the NEET exam. It shows the importance and value of this exam. The rise in the number of candidates is due to the increase in states that prefer NEET scores over other entrance exams.

Therefore, it is consequential to make the competition more intensive. It is suggested that candidates must go through NEET Physics analysis to get familiar with the weightage, exam pattern, and level of difficulty of questions in both sections.

According to the experts at Aakash Institute, the previous year’s Physics section in terms of difficulty was moderately difficult. There were no controversial and tricky questions. Numericals dominated the overall physics paper.

Most Important and Repeated Topics of Physics

After the previous years’ NEET papers analyses, experts at Aakash Institute conclude that to prepare the NEET Physics section, it is necessary to take help from reference books apart from NCERT books.

Although the notes provided by Aakash to its students are the best study materials and can lead you close to success, if candidates want to go through other books, then there is no harm.

Semiconductors

Electricity and Power

Kinematics

Heat

Thermodynamics

Magnetism and current energy

The motion of rotation

Electrostatics

Movement legal guidelines

Alternating Currents & Electromagnetic Induction

Waves and Oscillation

Optics

Some Solved Frequent Previous Year Problems of NEET Physics Section

Q1. What is the energy identical to 0.5g of a substance?

Answer: 4.5 x 10¹³ J.

Q2. Given that the energy essential to break one bond in DNA is 10⁻²⁰ J. What will be this value in eV?

Answer: 0.0625 eV.

Q3. A cylinder contains Hydrogen gas at a pressure of 249 kPa and a temperature of 27℃. Calculate its density.

Answer: 0.2 kg/m³.

Q4. A ray is incident at an angle of incidence’ i’ on one surface of the small-angle prism and normally emerges from the opposite surface. If the refractive index of the material of the prism is , the angle of incidence is nearly equal to?

Answer: i = A, where A = angle of prism.

Q5. A body weighs 72 N on the earth’s surface. When stress in Y is faintly reduced, the beat frequency escalates to 7 Hz. If it is given that the frequency of X is 530 Hz, the actual frequency of Y will be?

Answer: 524 Hz.

Conclusion

From the above conversation, it is concluded that all the chapters and topics are equally important in the NEET 2023 exam. Therefore, it is a must for students to be thorough with each and every formula and concept.

As the Physics subject comprises numerical problems more than theoretical ones, it is obvious to face lengthy calculations during the NEET exam. But, being a conceptual subject, you will have no problem scoring high if you are clear with all the important concepts. So, candidates must stick to their study plan and practice hard.

Frequently Asked Questions on NEET Difficulty Level

What tips should I follow to prepare for NEET Physics most efficiently?

Most of the time, medical aspirants find Physics a challenging subject. This subject makes them stressed, and they start believing it is very hard and time-consuming. To prepare for NEET Physics most efficiently, you must first stop thinking about Physics negatively.
Some tips to follow are:
• Learn Physics formulas daily, write them down on some dairy or paper, and revise them daily, once or twice a day. It helps to solve the calculations easily.
• Most of the questions are asked from the NCERT books. But to clear the concepts, study H.C.Verma and practise more problems, go through D.C. Panday and Objective Physics NCERT Gear Up.
• Write all the important points, formulas, theorems, and concepts in a diary and revise them daily. Use flowcharts, sticky notes, mind maps, etc., in your notes.
• Solve online mock papers. It will help you identify your preparation level, how much you prepared, and how your preparation is going.
• Try to improve your weak areas. Focus more on those areas or concepts in which you are weak.
• Start your preparations from the high-weightage chapters and then move toward low-weightage chapters.
• Keep your mind calm and positive while preparing for the NEET exam. Take proper rest and relax your mind. Eat healthy food and do some exercise and stay relaxed. And stay away from distractions.

Are Physics questions easy or hard in the NEET exam?

Most Biology students face problems in solving Physics problems, so they make up their minds that they can not do Physics problems. But to succeed in the NEET exam, you must conquer your fear of Physics.
Physics is not difficult in NEET. If you are good at calculations and know every formula, you can score 100+ in Physics. You must identify and solve different types of questions in the paper smartly. And for that, you need to practice diligently. The NEET Physics section is divided into three levels, i.e.,
1. Formula-based questions: 20–25 questions, i.e., 80–100 marks problems, are included as formula-based. Such problems are very easy to tackle if you know every formula.
2. Theory-based questions: 5–10 questions are counted as theory-based problems in the NEET Physics section. These problems become easy to solve if you get a command over the NCERT theory section and important concepts. If you solve these questions, you can easily gain 20–40 marks.
3. Concept-based questions: 5–10 questions are based on conceptual knowledge. You can solve them only if you know every concept and law with its applications. These problems can let you gain 20–40 marks easily.

Is the difficulty level of NEET Physics similar to CBSE Class 12 Physics?

No. The level of both exams is different. So, naturally, the pattern and difficulty level will also be different. In the board Physics exam, knowing the truth and concepts is adequate, but in the NEET exam, having profound knowledge of the concepts is crucial.
Scoring good marks in the board exam is done by memorizing the concepts and facts. Still, in NEET Physics, the only way to get a score is to have deep knowledge of the concepts and lots of practice. You can attain good marks in the CBSE board Physics problems by relying on the previous years' papers. But this will not work with the NEET Physics problems.
On the other hand, NEET aspirants must study almost every day in high school and practice by solving mock papers. NEET Physics asks for some advanced knowledge. You can make your base with the board exam but can't depend upon it.

What are the easiest chapters in the NEET Physics syllabus that can let me gain a 70+ score?

Although to get an excellent score in NEET Physics, you need to prepare all the chapters, a few topics can give you an advantage if you prepare them seriously. Such topics are
• Modern Physics
• Semiconductors
• Electromagnetic Induction (EMI)
• Alternating current
• Current electricity
These topics weigh around 40% in the NEET Physics portion, and you can cover them easily.

What is the expected topic-wise distribution of the questions in the NEET Physics section?

It is hard to say the precise distribution pattern because there is always a slight change every year in the NEET Physics paper pattern.
