As per the notice, the examinations would be conducted from 9 March 2023 to 17 March 2023. The evaluation for the same would begin on 21 March and the results are expected by 10 April.

As for the syllabus, the board exams would be assessing students on the Term 2 syllabus. Whatever would be taught between November 2022 to March 2023 would be part of the board exam syllabus. From next year, however, the completed coursework would be part of the annual exam syllabus.

Meanwhile, in order to assist the students in their preparation, KSEAB and the Department of State Educational Research and Training (DSERT) would also be releasing the model test papers. As for the paper pattern, the exam would be 50 marks. This would be divided into 10 marks for oral tests, 20 marks in multiple choice question format and 20 would be descriptive. The remaining 50 would be based on the student’s performance in the formative and summative assessments conducted during the year.

The purpose of the examination is to check the progress of the child and match it to the basic learning requirements. All such students who fail to score the minimum marks would be helped with remedial classes. This is basically to assess a child’s learning to intervene and facilitate catching up.

Passing criteria would be 35 percent and supplementary examinations would be conducted as well. Even if the student fails to get the minimum marks in the supplementary examination, he/she would be allowed to continue in the next class. The school, however, would be informed to take special measures to help the child with the required interventions.

Also see: CBSE Board Exams 2023

FAQs

1.
