Panjab University (Rank 89)<\/h3>\n

East Punjab University located in Chandigarh was established on 1 October 1947 in continuation and as a successor of the Punjab Lahore University by an order issued by the central government on September 27, 1947. It was decided by the authorities that the appointment of the Vice-Chancellor should be postponed until the ordinance is replaced by law. The operation of the university was entrusted to a provisional syndicate of nine members, including Sir Jai Lal; Justice Teja Singh; Gyanesh Chandra Chatterji; Sardar Bahadur Bhai Jodh Singh; Dewan Anand Kumar; Col. B. S. Nat; Principal Niranjan Singh; Professor Diwan Chand Sharma; and the Registrar D. N. Bhalla. The first three Vice-Chancellors were also selected from the same list.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
