Hey, today June 21st is also World Music Day 2022, and it got somewhat clouded due to the exuberance around International Yoga Day. Of Course, when ‘Stress’ is a buzzword in the modern world, Yoga helps in every possible way. But MUSIC is NO less.<\/span><\/p>\n

Do you know the importance of music in your life? Or can you imagine your life without music? It would be like a house without love. As soon as we are born, we respond to the sounds around us, and the first thing we hear is our mother’s voice. Be it “over the rainbow,” “Meethe Meethe Sapno Mein”, or “Yashoda ka Nandlala”, we all have heard our moms or grannies sing us to sleep and hum those long-forgotten melodies which are set on in our hearts. It brings back feelings and emotions, ties us to our homes and reminds us of special memories. We may share special songs with friends or link these sounds to our festivals. But does music have a place in schools? Or is it merely some kind of relaxing distraction?<\/span><\/p>\n

Well, the irony is that to trim budgets and improve academic performance, music education is slowly disappearing, causing a cutting of the arts from schools.<\/span><\/p>\n

Some believe that music isn’t as important as the core academic subjects. But research has already shown the importance of music in education including students’ academic success.<\/span><\/p>\n

Music, we all know, is the language that expresses feelings which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent. We all have had the experience of listening to the FM when a song comes on that you haven’t heard in 10 or 20 years. But right away, you start singing along as you heard it yesterday, and yahoo! You don’t miss a single word. Now that’s amazing, right?<\/span><\/p>\n

Are you in the mood to chill out? Skip the pop and jazz part and head for the classical.<\/span><\/p>\n

Angry Music Improves a Student’s Performance.<\/h3>\n

It’s known to all-Anger is universally bad. But believe it or not, another importance of music is that angry music has positive uses too. Anger focuses mainly on attention to rewards, increases persistence, makes them feel in control and more optimistic about achieving their goals.<\/span><\/p>\n

Music Reduces Pain.<\/h3>\n

According to the research one of the importance of music is that it reduces pain too. So, put on your favorite song when a doctor’s prescribed medicine isn’t doing the job. You are definitely going to rock again!<\/span><\/p>\n

That said, a bit of music can help a student be more creative. If he\/she has ADHD, noise helps them focus. And music with positive lyrics makes them more helpful and collaborative. Great music helps the left side of the child’s brain to develop, which is also responsible for processing language. Children can learn new words from songs, its repetition and movement also help them understand their meanings better. It’s even a great way to help them learn a new language. Whether a student is learning the different notes and strings on an instrument or learning new lyrics to a song, they are using their brain for memorization<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rhyme, rhythm, and repetition give them the tools they need for short and long term memorization. Students have more of a desire to concentrate on what they’re doing when they’re actively involved in music because dopamine is being released.
