Father\u2019s Day is celebrated every year on the\u00a0third Sunday of June.\u00a0<\/strong>This year Father\u2019s Day is observed on the 16th<\/sup> of June 2024. <\/strong>Father\u2019s Day is celebrated to honor the importance that a father plays in the family as a protector. This day is dedicated to all the fathers who stand as a pillar for their family members.\u00a0 Father\u2019s Day<\/strong> is a day to show our love and gratitude to our fathers and make them feel special. In this article, we will discuss the history and importance of Father\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n

History of Father\u2019s Day 2024<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Initially, people started celebrating Mother\u2019s Day which proved to be a success. Later to complement mother\u2019s day Sonora Smart Dodd realized that a day should be observed to honor all the father\u2019s around the world. Sonora Smart Dodd\u2019s father William Jackson Smart was an American Civil war veteran. They lived in Spokane, Washington and she along with her father took care of her younger siblings as her mother died while giving birth to her sixth child. She went to the Spokane Ministerial Alliance and requested them to celebrate her father\u2019s birthday which fell on 5th June as Father\u2019s Day. It was then in 1966 that US President Lyndon B Johnson officially declared the third Sunday of June to be marked as Father\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n

Significance of Father\u2019s Day 2024<\/strong><\/h2>\n

To thank all the fathers of our community we celebrate Father\u2019s Day. Fathers sacrifice their own life for the well-being of their families & children. A father instils true values in their children so that they grow up to be successful individuals. Fathers provide support to their family members in all ways be it emotionally, financially, or mentally. Children find their father as a role model and wish to become like him. Father\u2019s Day is devoted not only to fathers but also to all those who are fatherly like figures who shape our minds and play a vital role in our life.<\/p>\n
