National Institute of Technology Calicut<\/h3>\n

The National Institute of Technology Calicut (NIT Calicut or NITC), formerly the Regional College of Engineering, Calicut, is a public university of technology and an institution of national significance compliant with the NIT Act passed by the Indian Parliament. The campus is located on Calicut-Mukkam Road, 22km (14 miles) northeast of Calicut. Founded in 1961, the college was known as Calicut Regional Engineering University (CREC). It is one of the campuses of the National Institute of Technology, established by the Indian government, which offers high-level technical education to students from all over the country. NIT Calicut hosts a supercomputer on campus and has its own nanotechnology department.<\/span><\/p>\n

Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology<\/h3>\n

The Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), based in Thiruvananthapuram, is considered a university under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956. The International Institute of Information Technology (IIST) operates as a self-governing body under the Ministry of Space, Government of India. The idea of \u200b\u200b\u200b\u200bcreating such an institute was proposed taking into account the need for a highly qualified workforce for the Indian Space Research Organization, one of the world’s leading scientific organizations working in the field of space research and its applications. The institute is the first of its kind in the country to offer quality education for undergraduate, graduate, graduate, and post-doctoral students in fields focused on space science, space technology and space applications. IIST was officially launched on September 14, 2007, by Dr. J Madhawan Nir, then head of ISRO, who was temporarily stationed at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Center, very close to where ISRO built and launched its first rocket. The two founders of the institute, Dr. J. Madavan Nair and Dr. B. Suresh, the second first director of IIST, played a very important role in the development of this institute, facilitating its establishment and contributing to his vision. Dr. B. Suresh piloted the institute from concept to implementation at a permanent campus near Thiruvananthapuram in 2010.<\/span><\/p>\n

College of Engineering Trivandrum<\/h3>\n

The College of Engineering, Trivandrum was established in 1939 as the first engineering college in Travancore at the time. The first classes started on July 3, 1939, during the reign of the Travancore King, Sri Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma, and as Head of State of Travancore, he recognized his contribution to building a college. Initially, the campus was housed in the former Chief Engineer’s Office (now the PMG office) and bungalows. Maj T.H. Matthewman, an Englishman, was the first president. Starting as a graduate school at Travancore University, the college began recruiting 21 students each for undergraduate and postgraduate courses in public engineering, engineering, and electronics. With the establishment of the Ministry of Education in the 1950s, school administration came under the control of the Kerala government. The school was converted to the current 125 acres in 1960.<\/span><\/p>\n

Government Engineering College, Thrissur<\/h3>\n

Since its inception, the Government Engineering College, Thrissur has experienced strong growth in all areas and is currently one of the most sought-after colleges for technical education, with seven full-time master’s programs, six part-time bachelor’s programs, and ten graduate programs, and one doctorate Engineering Research Program. In addition to engineering programs, the college also offers undergraduate and graduate programs in architecture and postgraduate programs in computer applications (MCA). Admission has increased from a whopping 120 at the start of the university to 759 a year now. The college is currently affiliated with Calicut University and APJ Abdul Kalam University of Technology. The College is recognised by the All India Technical Education Council (AICTE), Architecture Council (COA), and the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) has accredited the programs offered in the College.<\/span><\/p>\n
