In 1863, Henry Dunant founded the International Committee of the Red Cross in Geneva, Switzerland.<\/p>\n<p>In 1934, the principles of the Red Cross were proclaimed at the Fifteenth International Congress. It was approved at the same meeting. World Red Cross Day is celebrated annually on May 8, 1948.
