Did you know, 70% of the Earth\u2019s surface is covered in water but still, many places have a scarcity of water? Only a tiny percentage of the earth\u2019s water is fresh, which we need for growing food, drinking, and more.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If we look at the current scenario, the population and consumption of water are growing day by day, which also impacts the climate. Climate change directly puts a lot of pressure on the water. In the recent World Economic Forum, the crisis related to water is one of the top reasons hindering global economic growth. 650 million people don\u2019t have access to fresh drinking water because the water, that is accessible to them, is not safe to drink.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

March 22 was allotted as World Water Day by the United Nations in 1993. This was done to bring awareness about sustainably managing freshwater resources. The key focus of World Water Day<\/strong> is to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal No. 6, which states \u201cWater and Sanitation for all by 2030\u201d. Every year a theme is chosen for \u201cWorld Water Day<\/strong>\u201d.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

World Water Day Theme for 2024<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The theme for this year\u2019s World Water Day is \u201cWater for Prosperity and Peace<\/strong>\u201d. Groundwater is one of the most important resources of water, which provides the world with more than half of drinking water. Protecting, exploring, and finding sustainable ways of using groundwater will be the main objectives of World Water Day this year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

World Water Day<\/strong> is celebrated to raise awareness and inspire people across the globe about the issues related to water and how they can do their part to make a difference. The issue related to water may be more than we see on the surface. Water scarcity, inadequate water supply, lack of sanitation, water pollution, and impacts of climate change are brought to attention on this day.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This year on World Water Day PM Modi, also shared his thoughts as he stated \u201cSince past few years water conservation has become a mass movement in India, which is very heart-warming to see as many people across the nation are finding innovative ways to conserve water. I would like to thank and appreciate every individual and organization who are doing their part to save water\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n
