Amidst this time of growing concern for public safety & health, the minister of human resource and development, announced the postponement of major entrance exams. In order to avoid the inconvenience of travelling during the global situation, The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) has been suspended till the last week of May.<\/p>\n

However, the announcement has created anxiety among the aspirants who went back to their hometowns due to the global lockdown announced by Mr Narendra Modi. Several of the aspirants had opted to appear for the exam in the cities where they were locating due to their coaching. Also, these coaching centres have also been shut due to the as a result of this lockdown.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

Students from all across the country travel to various coaching hubs like Kota in order to prepare for these exams and then write the exams at these places as well. Aspirants must have picked examination centres that would have been closest to these coaching hubs. However, the lockdown has upset the plans for thousands of such students. All these students are fearing that the new schedule will be announced quite late and they will have very little time to travel which will upset all their plans and their will be a last-minute panic. Aspirants are now requesting the HRD minister on social media to allow a change in the examination centre for entrance tests.<\/p>\n

As stated by a student \u201cThe scenario has changed now than earlier while filling the form. Kindly provide option for changing centre. As many students were studying at different places and selected their centres accordingly. Now around 80% of the students have gone to their home town which is far away from the centre they have selected. Please treat this matter sympathetically.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another student stated \u201cSir it would be great\u00a0 if we are allowed to change our examination centres for it is very important that we stay in our homes now and avoid being in crowdy places and travelling to the centre is only going to increase the risk of spread if the condition does not improve.\u201d<\/p>\n

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) which regulates admission into medical colleges was scheduled to be held on May 3. Earlier in March, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has suspended the JEE Main which was scheduled for April 5,7,8,9 and 11. The new dates for both will now be announced after April 15 once the lockdown comes to an end and a reassessment of the situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
