The nomenclature for the two examinations will be Mathematics \u2014 Standard, for the existing level of examination, and Mathematics \u2014 Basic, for the easier level.<\/p>\n<h3>KEY POINTS<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The syllabus, classroom teaching and internal assessment for both the levels would remain the same.<\/li>\n<li>The standard-level mathematics assesses higher mathematical abilities compared to the basic-level. Accordingly, the difficulty level of Mathematics \u2014 &#8216;Basic&#8217; will be less than that of Mathematics \u2014&#8217;Standard&#8217;.<\/li>\n<li>A student can opt for only one option.<\/li>\n<li>Students have to pass Mathematics \u2014 &#8216;Standard&#8217; in CBSE Class X board exams to take up maths at the senior secondary level.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>SYLLABUS<\/h3>\n<p>Study of Number System, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Mensuration, Statistics, Graphs and Coordinate Geometry, etc.<\/p>\n<h3>EXAM PATTERN<\/h3>\n<p>This year the pattern of CBSE board exam has taken a new direction. It will include objective type questions, fill in the blank type questions in addition to very short type questions in Section A. While Section B &amp; C consist of short type questions including 2 &amp; 3 marks respectively, Section D has long answer type questions and each question carries 4 marks.<\/p>\n<h3>PREPARATION TIPS FOR CLASS X MATHEMATICS BOARD EXAM<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4><strong>Plan and prioritize your syllabus according to the weightage of different chapters<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To score big in Class X Mathematics Board exam, it is\u00a0important to plan and study around the weightage of different topics. Algebra (which includes Polynomials, Pair of Linear Equation in Two Variables, Quadratic Equations, Arithmetic Progressions) and Geometry (which includes Triangles, Circles, Construction) carry maximum marks. While\u00a0Algebra needs practice of questions based on formulae and calculation, questions in geometry are based on theorems and geometrical figures. You need to devise a preparation strategy accordingly to\u00a0master these topics.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, while you can easily score in topics\u00a0like Trigonometry, Co-ordinate Geometry, Probability with less efforts, you need to put in more focused efforts to score well in\u00a0topics like Mensuration (which includes Areas Related to Circles, Surface Areas &amp; Volumes) and Statistics. Along with conceptual understanding, you need to prepare in a time-bound manner to gain an edge on such topics.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4><strong>Practice does not make perfect. Only perfect practice makes perfect.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To score perfect marks, you need to practice thoroughly and perfectly. So, practice\u00a0as many previous years\u2019 papers as possible, but also\u00a0keep in mind that the current pattern of the paper has been changed. A time-bound\u00a0practice of sample papers can be your\u00a0key to success at this stage. Additionally, solving\u00a0previous years&#8217; papers familiarizes you\u00a0with the important topics and helps identify weak areas. You should also solve\u00a0as many mock tests as possible. This will improve your speed and accuracy, boost confidence and aid in better time management during the Class X Mathematics board exam.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4><strong>Exam revolves around NCERT<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you are aware, the syllabus of the CBSE Board Exams is completely based on the NCERT textbooks. Hence, a detailed study of the NCERT textbooks is a must. While preparing, pay attention to every line of the textbook as it entails important information.
