Diabetes is a metabolic disease where pancreas does not produces sufficient insulin, a hormone that controls blood sugar or glucose, or when the body cannot effectively use the insulin it produces.
The general symptoms of diabetes include - increased hunger, increased thirst, weight loss, frequent urination, blurry vision, extreme fatigue, sores that don’t heal, etc.
The main cause of diabetes is having too much glucose circulating in your bloodstream. However, the reason why your blood glucose levels are high differs depending on the type of diabetes.
Diabetes can be treated using medications and/or insulins injections. Diet and exercise can help some people manage diabetes.
Diabetes can be prevented through lifestyle changes such as reducing excess body weight, regular physical activity, healthy diet, and routine screening with diagnostic tests.
