World Bee Day: 10 Most Beautiful Bees in the World

On May 20th every year, we celebrate ‘World Bee Day’ in remembrance of Anton Janša, the greatest person who worked towards modern beekeeping.

Here are 10 of the most beautiful bees in the world and facts about them:

Pure Gold-Green Sweat  Bees

As the name indicates, these are attracted to human sweat.

These are parasitic bees that survive on the nectar collected by the host.

Neon Cuckoo Bees

They live in small colonies, not bee hives.

Virescent Metallic Bees

Blue-Banded Bees

These build a solitary nest in clay soil.

Orchid Bees

The chemicals released by the orchids attract these bees.

Bumble Bees

These are the most familiar bees seen in the gardens that make buzz sounds.

Leafcutter Bees

They use their jaws to neatly cut segments of the leaf.

Mining Bees

Help in the pollination of crops like apples, blueberries and more.

Mason Bees

These bees build their nests in old mortar or empty snail shells.

Wool Carder Bees

This species collects hair from plants, makes a ball and converts it into their nests.
