Savery was born to a well-known family in Shilston, England around 1650.

He had a great fondness for mechanics, mathematics, experimentation and invention.

In 1712, Thomas Newcomen invented an effective and practical steam engine similar to Savery’s design.

Unfortunately it failed due to loss of inadequate energy.

His design saw itself take shape on a successful steam engine when James Watt came into the picture.

The high consumption of coal was reduced through innovations in engine design by James Watt.

He became renowned for his improvements of the steam engine and his engine soon became the A1 design for all modern steam engines.
