What Is the Speed of Nerve Impulse in Human Body?

The nervous system is responsible for our organ functions and nerve impulse.

The nerves of the nervous system transmit information in the form of electrical and chemical signals known as 'Nerve impulses' throughout the body.

When we touch anything, impulses travel at a speed of 350 feet per second across the nerve circuitry to the mind.

The speed of nerve impulses depends on the kind of function that the human body wants to perform.

For instance, when you are trying to withdraw the hand from a hot substance the speed of nerve impluse is 100 metres per second.

In the case of a thinking process, the nerve impulse can be measured at 20-30 metres per second.

Researchers have also found that the speed of nerve impulses when you touch an object or person will be around 76 metres per second.
