Endothermic Reaction Definition: A Chemical reaction in which heat is absorbed is called an endothermic reaction. It causes a fall in temperature.

Endothermic Reaction Example 1:  When nitrogen and oxygen together are heated to a temperature of 3000 degrees centigrade, the product formed is nitric oxide.

The chemical equation is

Heat is absorbed during this reaction. This is Endothermic Reaction.

Example 2 When Calcium Carbonate is heated to a temperature of 1000 degrees C, it decomposes to Calcium oxide and Carbon dioxide.

Heat is absorbed in this reaction. This reaction is Endothermic.
