Combination Reaction Definition: The chemical reaction in which two or more substances combine to form a single substance is called a Combination Reaction.

Combination Reaction Example : When a magnesium ribbon is burnt in air, it reacts with the oxygen which is present in air.

A white residue of magnesium oxide is formed.

It burns with a brilliant flame.

This is combination reaction involving two elements magnesium and oxygen.

2Mg (s)  +  O2 (g) --------------> 2MgO (s)

The Chemical Equation is

The white powdery substance is magnesium oxide which is formed as a result of combination reaction.
