A logarithmic table has 3 types of columns:
– Main column - from 10 to 99 – Differences column - 0 to 9 – Mean differences column - 1 to 9

pH is a measure of how acidic or basic a given chemical solution is. Mathematically, pH is the negative base 10 log of the hydrogen ion concentration of a solution.
Now, let’s assume that we are asked to find the pH of a solution whose [H+] concentration is

This tells us that we need to subtract 5 from the number log10(5.0).
i.e., log10(5) = 6990 and we need to write this as a decimal part 0.699.
