What Is the Difference Between Screw Gauge and Vernier Caliper?

A screw gauge is used for measuring the diameter while Vernier Caliper is an instrument for making linear measurements.

First, let's understand the definition of  Screw gauge and Vernier Caliper.

A Screw Gauge is like an axe and a Vernier Caliper is like a gun.

A Screw Gauge can be used for external measurement whereas a Vernier Caliper is used for internal and external measurement.

The Screw Gauge has a screw to measure and the Vernier Caliper has clippers for measurements.

The Screw Gauge has a circular scale and the Vernier Caliper has a vernier scale.

The least count of a  Screw Gauge is 0.001 mm and of a Vernier Caliper is  0.01 mm.

The Screw Gauge rotates to measure the objects whereas the Vernier scale slides to record the measurements.

The two scales of a Screw Gauge are the main and circular scale, for a Vernier Caliper the two scales are the main and vernier scale.

The measurements from a Screw Gauge are more precise when compared to the measurements of a Vernier Caliper.
