Mirror

A mirror is usually made with a glass material having one of the surfaces silvered or painted with chemicals.

Types of Mirrors: There are two kinds of mirrors – Plane mirrors – Spherical mirrors

Plane Mirror

A plane mirror is generally made from a glass material having less thickness.

One of the side surfaces must be polished, and the other should be reflected.

These are used in the construction of periscopes.

Uses of Plane Mirrors

-Used by opticians to   provide false   dimensions.  -In solar cookers.  -As looking glass.

A mirror that consists of a curved hollow sphere is known as a spherical mirror.

Spherical Mirrors

These are of Two Kinds

Concave mirror ( converging mirror) Convex mirror (diverging mirror).

A mirror painted or polished from the bulging end of a hollow sphere. The reflecting part should be a hollow surface.

A mirror that is polished from the hollow end of the sphere. Reflecting part should be at the bulging end.
