Explained: What Will Happen if There Is No Acceleration Due to Gravity

Let us first understand the definition of gravity and its effect on us.

In general, ‘Gravity’ is defined as a force of attraction with which a body is attracted towards the center of the Earth.

It is only gravity due to which planets are in orbit around the sun and the moon around the Earth.

The acceleration possessed by a freely falling body due to the force of attraction of another body (or the earth), is called ‘Acceleration due to gravity’.

Acceleration due to gravity is a constant value and is equal to 9.8 m/s2.

– The earth would stop     rotating – The moon would collide     with the earth – The earth would collide     with the sun

Let us see some main impacts of not having acceleration due to gravity:

So, it is evident that all the objects are attracted to the earth because of the acceleration due to gravity without which everything would be floating in the air.

Not only the objects, but even humans will also become weightless. The atmosphere would disappear into space.

Weightlessness can cause a negative change in humans' muscles and bones, in the absence of acceleration due to gravity. So it becomes impossible for us to survive.
