The flow of charged Particles through a conductor or circuit causes current.

Electricity

Electricity can be classified into two kinds. They are, • Static electricity • Current electricity

If the charge is not allowed to flow, it is known as static electricity.

Static Electricity

Current Electricity

If the charge is allow to flow in a conductor known as current electricity. Large number of free electrons drifting in metallic conductor causes current.

The study of the property of attraction or repulsion between two metallic bodies due to the presence of moving electric charges is known as magnetism.

Magnetism

The materials which are attracted to magnets are known as magnetic materials.

Every magnet has two poles, north and south. Even if you cut a magnet vertically or axially into a number of pieces, each piece of the magnet will have 2 poles.

Properties of Magnets

Pair Property

Freely suspended magnet always rests along the North-South direction.

Properties of Magnets

Directional Property

A magnetic compass is designed to find the direction at a particular place.

Every place on earth has particular magnetic meridian values. These are used to locate ships in the ocean.

Magnets have a special property known as Induction. Magnets induce magnetic properties to the metals that are kept near them.

Induction Property

Properties of Magnets

Attraction Force generates between different poles of two magnets.
