There are six types of energy. Let us study these types of energy one by one:
It is the form of energy stored in the bonds that connect atoms/molecules with other atoms/molecules.
Chemical Energy
Food, biomass, petroleum, natural gas, etc. All have stored chemical energy.
It is the form of energy generated due to the motion of electric charges (electrons).
Electrical Energy
Lightening, batteries, electric eels, electric trains, etc. Are examples of electric energy.
Mechanical Energy
It is the type of energy that is stored in moving objects and is also called ‘motion energy’.
Motion energy is the sum of the potential and kinetic energy of an object. Wind, a running person and a fish swimming are some examples of motion energy.
It is the heat energy created when atoms and molecules vibrate (or move faster) within substances.
Thermal Energy
The warmth of the sun, baking in an oven, or the heat produced in the heater are some examples of thermal energy.
Nuclear Energy is formed when the nuclei of atoms combine (nuclear fusion) or split apart (nuclear fission).
Nuclear Energy
A nuclear power plant generating electricity is an example of nuclear energy.
It is a form of potential energy that an object has in relation to another object due to gravity.
Gravitational Energy
River water at the top of a waterfall, ripe fruit before it falls, water that is behind a dam, etc. Are examples of gravitational energy.
