India has won 35 medals at the Olympics since the 1900 edition.

Here is the list of the faces that made India proud.

The day was May 26, 1928 and it was the gold medal match in Amsterdam. Jaipal Singh was the captain of the first Indian hockey team to make it happen.

In 1932 Lal Bokhari, the captain of the Indian hockey team, won the gold medal at the Los Angeles Olympics.

The wizard Dhyan Chand scored 14 goals, including a hat-trick in the final against the Netherlands in the final. This was Indian hockey’s first medal at the Olympics in 1936.

Balbir Singh’s brace in the final helped India beat hosts Great Britain 4-0 and win a fourth Olympic gold in 1956.
