The numbers are said to be in ascending order when they are arranged from the lowest to the largest number.

Ascending  Order

We use commas ( , ) or the less than symbol  ( < ) to arrange the numbers.

Arrange these numbers in ascending order: 10,21,35,42,61,8,17.

How to arrange the numbers in ascending order on a number line?

- Always begin with the smallest number and finish with the largest number. - Make sure that the numbers are in ascending order from smallest to greatest.

Rules of Ascending Order

Descending Order

We use commas ( , ) or the greater than symbol ( > ) to arrange the numbers.

Arrange the numbers in Descending order  from 41 to 50.
