Definition of Composite Numbers

Composite numbers are natural numbers that have more than two factors.

It can be divided by a number other than one and the number itself.

Non-prime whole numbers are composite numbers as they can be divided by more than two numbers.

Properties of Composite Numbers

The factors of composite numbers are evenly divisible.

Each composite number is a factor of its magnitude.

Each composite number will have at least two prime numbers as factors  (For example, 12 = 2 x 2 x 3. Here, 2 and 3 are prime numbers). -Four is the smallest composite number.

Let's look at the numbers 4 and 6. In the example below 4 and 6 are called composite numbers since they are made up of more than two numbers.

Types of Composite Numbers

Odd Composite Numbers

Odd composite numbers include all odd integers that are not prime.

Even Composite Numbers

Even composite numbers consist of all non-prime even integers.
