Angle Between Two Lines | CBSE, JEE Maths Concept Note

BY Team Aakash Byju's

It is beneficial to understand the relationship between the two lines.  It's the angle between the two lines that are being measured

There are two angles between two intersecting lines:  The acute angle and the obtuse angle - For the angle between two lines, we consider the acute angle between the lines.

Knowing the slope of two lines or the equation of the two lines can be used to compute the angle between them.

How to Find the Angle between Two Lines?

The angle between two lines can be computed from the slope by using the trigonometric tangent function.

Let us consider two lines with slopes m1 and m2 respectively.

- Further, we can find the angle between the two lines if the equations are given. - Let the equations be l1=a1x+b1y+c1=0 and l2 = a2x+b2y+c2=0

- The angle between two lines that are parallel to each other and have equal slopes is zero degrees. -The distance between two parallel lines is at all times constant.

The angle between two lines are perpendicular to each other and have the product of their slopes equal to -1 is 90 degrees.

Example: Find the angle between the following two lines Line 1: 3x-2y = 4 Line 2: x + 4y = 1
