List Out the Names and Symbols of  P-Block Elements  in Periodic Table

The elements found on the right side of the periodic table are the 'p-block elements'.

The last electron of these elements enters any of the 3 p-orbitals of their shells & hence they are named ‘p-block elements’.

There are 6 groups of p-block elements - 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18 but Helium belongs to the s-block.

Group 13 is called the ‘Boron family’. Boron is a semi-metal with the symbol B.

Aluminium (Al), gallium (Ga), indium (In), thallium(Tl), and nihonium (Nh) are the next 5 p-block elements of group 13.

Group 14 is called the ‘Carbon family’. The members of this family & their symbols are listed next.

- Carbon (C)  - Silicon (Si), - Germanium (Ge) - Tin (Sn) - Lead (Pb)  - Flerovium are the group 14 elements.

Group 15 is called the ‘Nitrogen family’. It has the elements  - Nitrogen(N),  - Phosphorus(P)  - Arsenic(As)  - Antimony(Sb) - Bismuth(Bi).

 Group 16 is called the ‘Oxygen family’. The group consists of the elements : - Oxygen(O) - Sulfur(S) - Selenium(Se)  - Tellurium(Te)  - Polonium(Po)   - Livermorium(Lv).

Group 17 is called the ‘Halogens’. The 5 elements in this group are non-toxic and non-metallic elements.

They are  - Fluorine (F) - Chlorine (Cl)  - Bromine (Br)  - Iodine (I) - Astatine (At).

Group 18 is called the ‘Noble Gases’ or inert gases because of their completely filled valence shells. They are highly non-reactive.

Here’s the list of inert gases - Helium(He) - Neon(Ne)  - Argon(Ar)  - Krypton(Kr)  - Radon(Rn) - Xenon(Xe) - Oganesson (Og).
