International Day of Peace 2022: Facts About UN World Peace Day

The International Day of Peace is observed around the world each year on 21 September.

It was established in 1981 by UN resolution to devote to strengthening the ideals of peace by observing 24-hours of non-violence and cease-fire.

The First International Peace Conference used Pablo Picasso’s ‘Dove of Peace’ as its emblem.

From  organizing peace workshops to engaging in peace activities, the goal is to bring people together despite the differences.

Aggressive war was prohibited by international law in 1945 which is written into the Charter of the United Nations.

The LEAF International Organization works with schools around the world to plant trees and talk about peace.

The UN Secretary-General rings a bell that was made of coins from 60 countries.
