On the 26th of June every year, we observe International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. It is also known as World Drug Day.

The United Nations General Assembly in 1987 announced June 26 as International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

This day is also dedicated to Mr. Lin Zexu who tried to prevent the opium trade in China, Humen and Guangdong.

This day is observed to raise awareness about the ill effects of drugs and to free our world from drug abuse.

On this day, many organisations and individuals are working together to prevent drug abuse.

The ones who get addicted to drugs are mostly teenagers and children.
