Interesting Facts about Dolphins You Need to Know

How do you feel if you spot a dolphin while travelling on the sea? Really excited isn’t it?

These playful creatures have some unknown interesting facts.

The killer whale is the biggest dolphin family. The male dolphin grows 9.8 m which weighs around 10000 kgs

When the dolphin sleeps, one hemisphere of the brain shuts down and the opposite eye closes. Thus, its called h for half Brain Sleep.

Dolphins have a unique way to give signals to other dolphins. Each dolphin has a distinct whistle signal that other dolphins can recognize.

Dolphins deliver one baby each time. Sometimes it carries two babies at a time and after delivery, they carry their calves for 11 to 18 months.

Dolphins don’t drink water when they are underwater. Instead, they get both energy and water from the food they eat.

Smaller dolphins live up to around 20 years and bigger dolphins like Orcas (Killer Whales) live up to 80 years and sometimes more.
