Explained With Example: Determine the Circumference of a Circle

BY Team Aakash Byju's

Definition: A circle is a two-dimensional object made up of a group of points that are all at the same distance (radius) from a fixed point (center) on the plane.

The origin, or center of the circle, is a fixed location, and the radius is the fixed Distance between the points from the origin.

The length of a circle's boundary is specified as its circumference. It's also known as a circle's perimeter.

Circumference of a Circle Formula: The circumference of a circle is defined as the whole length of its boundaries. Circumference of a circle  = 2πr units.(If radius given)

For Example:  Calculate the circumference of a circle whose radius is 8cm Sol: Given Radius = 8cm circumference of a circle = 2πr  = 2 x 3.14 x 8  = 50.24 cm

Circumference of a circle   = πd (If diameter given)

Calculate the Circumference of a Circle whose Diameter is 70mm  Sol: Given Diameter   = 70mm  circumference of a circle 'c' = πd = 3.14 x 70   = 219.8 mm
