State Important Functions Of Ozone Layer In The Atmosphere

The ozone layer can be spotted in the stratosphere between 15 km and 30 km above the earth.

The stratosphere is nothing but a layer that surrounds the Earth’s atmosphere.

One of the main functions of the ozone layer that is present in the upper regions of the atmosphere is protecting us from dangerous UV radiation.

'Ozone' is a product of UV radiation acting on oxygen molecules at higher levels of the atmosphere.

Ozone acts as a covering in the atmosphere above 16 kilometres from the earth’s surface.

As it absorbs harmful radiation coming from the Sun, it protects life on earth.

In the absence of the ozone layer, there is a possibility of ultraviolet rays damaging our skin causing cancer.

Since Ozone absorbs the sun's ultraviolet radiation as well as upwelling infrared radiation from troposphere, it generates heat in the stratosphere.
