Define the Relationship Between the Organism and Populations

A living being can be either unicellular or multicellular and perform many life functions.

Organism

A group of organisms of a species living together in a particular region is known as a ‘Population’.

Population

There are different relationships between the same group of organisms and different groups of organisms.

Relationship between Organisms and Population

- Archaea - Bacteria - Eukarya

These include

Mutualism is a relationship between two organisms of different species in which both the organisms benefit from each other.

Mutualism

– Aphids and ants – Clownfish and sea anemone – Corals and Algae

Examples:

Commensalism

Commensalism is a relationship between two organisms in which one organism benefits and the other neither benefits nor gets harmed.

Egret bird and cattle Orchids and trees Barnacles

Examples:

Parasitism is a relationship between two creatures in which one organism completely depends on the other organism for food and shelter.
