Common Examples of Chemical Reactions in Everyday Life

Photosynthesis is not a natural and general process for everyone. Plants take in carbon dioxide to prepare food for themselves and release oxygen.

Photosynthesis

The oxygen that we take in reacts with energy molecules to release carbon dioxide and water.

Respiration process

Many reactions occur during digestion. Hydrochloric acid reacts with the food and converts it into small pieces of proteins that can be easily transported into the small intestine.

Digestion

The battery is powered by reduction and oxidation electrochemical processes. Electrons are exchanged between chemical entities in these reactions.

Batteries

When an acid (e.g, lemon juice, vinegar) is combined with a base, the base and acid are neutralised resulting in water and salt.

Acid-base

Soap acts as an emulsifier and surrounds the dirt so that it can be easily washed away using water.

Detergent

Fruit rots as a result of a chemical process, this is due to an enzymatic reaction that takes place if fruit spoils.

Rotten food

Rusting of iron over Iron Rust is a major problem for many businesses that work with iron. Due to atmospheric moisture and oxygen, iron undergoes a chemical reaction and converts into an iron oxide.
