Coal Miners’ Day is celebrated every year on May 4th across the globe.

The first-ever coal mine was opened in 1575, and since then miners have played an important role in the Industrial Revolution.

We celebrate this day to honor the sacrifices and accomplishments of coal miners across the world.

Coal miners work in hazardous conditions under the earth’s crust to fulfil our energy demands.

Conditions inside coal mines are treacherous, and can cause significant health issues resulting an early death.

Even to this day, coal mining is considered to be one of the most hazardous professions in India.

In recent years, the govt and coal mining companies have taken several steps for the health, safety and welfare of coal workers.

The invention of modern technology to extract and process coal has also helped in increasing the safety of these workers.
