What Is The Process Of Chlorination Of Water?

Chlorination is the chemical disinfecting method of water body. It uses various types of chlorine and adds them to drinking water or any water sources.

Chlorine disinfects the water body by inactivating a microorganism in the water by damaging its cell membrane.

After the cell membrane is weakened, chlorine enters the cell to disrupt cell respiration and DNA activity.

There is no specific time to add chlorine to the water. It can be done at any time throughout the water treatment method.

These harmful microorganisms are called Pathogens and they can cause diseases in humans.

In order to inactivate these pathogens to fight waterborne diseases, disinfection of water is needed.
