The solution formed is electrically conductive, paramagnetic in nature and also reductive.
Since the solvated electrons get absorbed in the visible region, the colour of the solution becomes blue.
If we let the reaction take place for long, the metal ions break into amide and ammonia with the evolution of hydrogen gas.
