Analgesics are used to reduce fever, common cold and headaches.
They are also used to reduce pain and swelling in conditions of arthritis.
– Opioid and opiate – Nonopioid
There are two major types of analgesics:
Opioids are strong analgesics and are capable of reducing the pain of any origin. They vary based on the intensity of pain.
Nonopioids are types of analgesics where the prescription is needed and is advised for mild and moderate acute and chronic pain.
– Temporary heartburn – Stomach upset
– Nausea/vomiting – Bleeding – Difficulty hearing – Dizziness
– Kidney problems – Unexplained tiredness – Dark urine – Yellowing skin So these need to be taken only as per the prescription.
